Charlie69's 66 520 Build

The electric window mechanisms I have were too wide, I could not fit them in the available space, they needed  more than the 16/17 inches of space I have front to rear.

I went online and found setups that had the motor at the bottom of the track that were very expensive, but they had very bad reviews, a lot of them said "didn't work out of box" or "only worked 3/4 times", I just wasn't going to spend that kind of money with them kind of reviews.

So I did that simple setup that I could make myself without spending a cent after trying the modified roll up and down mechanism.

Here is the driver side, I drilled the holes in the wrong place the first time.

I am using the postimage option on the NWD website that is part of the forum(didn't have to open a personal account), I like it but what happens to the photos is also out of my hands as they are hosted on another site also, the photos are not downloaded directly to the forum like on MGE and the Nissan diesel forum(photos hosted by the forum itself), they will be there as long as the forum is there.

I was asked to not use any other way to post photos on the Nissan diesel forum, as the owner said the photos would disappear for one reason or another someday, and what he said is true, you can go to my threads there and see all my photos are gone till a certain date, and all the rest are there from that date on, but if you host your own photos on your own website when you quit paying for the website the photos go away.

There is not a lot of room in the 520 engine bay, you made more room the way you did it making your own tunnel and all, unfortunately the photos are gone. :(

Nice work Wayno, very simple window system.

I am curious as to why the power window mechanisms would not work.

You are correct on the AC and heater hoses in the firewall area   I will also have a 620 windshield washer bottle mounted on the firewall like the 620's have.

I had my brother weld a modified bracket back on the side of the Nissan Quest battery box.

Soon as I figure out a photo host I will post some pictures.

I uploaded 763 pictures to Imgur yeterday and when I was done uploading I had over 2300 photos in Imgur.  Some reason I had 3 of everything so I deleted my imgur account.

I miss how easy it was to organize my picture files on PhotoBucket.  I might have to bite the bullet and do a website to host my own pictures.

I bit the bullet and loaded my images on PostImage.

I took this stock Nissan Quest battery box and removed all the brackets, cut 2" out of it, am\nd trimmed all the unneeded pieces of the bracket I was going to use.  I had my brother Garret weld it back together.

This is the stock Quest battery box.

I am also checking paint colors for my 520.

Gene had this sample of 1967 Datsun Cherry Red 525 made up for me.

I like it but it being a red color is more expensive than going with the Manderin Orange Pearl By Kirker.

Kirker Mandarin Orange Pearl

I like the Kirker Mararin Orange Pearl but it will cost more to have painted.  I am figuring $4.000 for body work and paint for labor with me providing the the materials.  Materials will be about $2,000 so I will be into this paint job about $6,000 dollars.  But this will be an eye catcher.  Can you say "Chick Magnet"  LOL

I know what you mean Wayno.  After I get my website up and running I am thinking about doing a complete build with no comments on my website.  I will keep up dating this information and pictures as I have time to do so.  Photobucket really put the screws to many people, businesses and governments world wide.  I hope by their greed it brings they're company to bankrupcy.

I pulled the wiring harnes back out of my 520 and have spent about 20 hours tracing wires and checking for continuity.  I hope to have the harness ready to install byt the end of this weekend.

I have Carpul Tunnel surgery Friday so I am hoping to be able to install the harness next weekend.  Finish mounting devices and tailoring the harness to fit my 520. once it is all tailored I will pull the harness out for final wrapping.

Kelmo the pictures only work for the people that have installed the fix on their pwersol computers.  Not sure if the fixes for Chrome and FireFox work on phones.

If you can give me the post Numbers you are interested in I will fix those photos next. so you can see them without the fix.  The post numbers I am talking about are in the top right coenr of each post made, your last post was #1062.

I still have intentions of replacing all the pictures in my post with pictures that are not on PhotoBucket.  I would like to get my website up to host my own pictures.

Post the numbers of the pictures you would like and I will fix them tonight.

So The SWDP 10th Annual Barbecue was a great time, but it is time to get some more work done on my 520 before I have shoulder surgery.  I hope to get the exhaust and the wiring done before the surgery.

I knapped most of the day today and will get some yard work done from the monsoons tomorow and hopefully Saturday I will finish prepping the truck for a trip to the exhaust shop.

A week ago Sunday Shawn cme over early and we hit 4 wrecking yards looking for 720s.  Found 3 in 2 yards.  First yard was a beat to death 84 standard cab 2wd.  Second yard had a really fresh 86 720 king cab 2wd hit hard on the drivers front and an early 84 standard cab 4x4.  I commenced to pull the dash on the 86 and Shawn  started removing the AC parts under the hood.  We pulled the complete wire harness minus the tail light fuel section.  Placed all the extra parts in the bed.  When Shawn broke loose the AC lines there was still a freon charge so we pulled the condenser, blower, evaporator, & heater boxes.  $100  later we loaded it all into the back of my 86 King Cab DD.  My 86 needed the condenser replaced do to major leak, the rest are spare parts.

Yesterday Gene & I went back to the 86 and pulled the dryer, compressor, mounting bracket, & idler pulley and picked up all the AC lines in the back of the truck pulled the previous weekend.

This afternoon Gene came over and we test fitted the 86 AC dryer, compressor, bracket, idler pulley, & hoses in my 66 520 with the L20B automatic in it.  The Z24 bracket and other parts just do not fit.  These will be spare parts for my 86.  I will find a Sanden 508 compressor and bracket and have custom hoses made to fit.

Trial and error until I hit a winning combination.

Could not load picture as Postimage is doing maintenance.

Gracie has been sick all weekend so we took her to see her Dr,  She has Parvo so all we can do is treat the symptoms and pray.  She got a full bag of liquid, a shot for nausea, and a shot of antibiotics.  She will go in for the next few days for the liquid or until she either improves or declines.

She had all her shots so we hoped she would be protected from Parvo.

Dr Petersen is contacting the the vaccine manufacturer to try to get us reimbursement to the Parvo treatments.

She is a handful and a rough and tumble puppy.  I pray she pulls through this.

Charlie, hoping Gracie has a full recovery.  We fostered a couple International Cosmopolitans (fancy name for a mutt), from the clinic my wife was working at that had a parvo breakout. 4 years later, we are still fostering (ha).  One of them got bit by a rattle snake back at the beginning of September and it took a good 2 weeks for her to rebound.  Few things are worse than knowing your dog doesn't feel well and not much you can do about it.
