Nissan_Boy85
I figured it was about time for my truck to get it's own project thread. It hasn't had much done to it since it is my only vehicle and serves as my daily driver. Most of the stuff that I've done is purely mechanical just so it runs right. I do, however, have some before/after shots of my many misc. project I have done. But first, her story. I bought it as my first car back in 2006. She had been wrecked before but the frame was "straight" so we went ahead and bought her. It had the wheels, steering wheel, weber, and that was about it. Once we got it over across the river into Washigton, we had to get it to pass DEQ. It took 6 tries to many, but we got it passes and licensed. From about April to May, we spent making it a reliable car for a teenager. It has the front half of the brake system replaces, now pads all around, new shocks, etc. That June, I won the Highschool class at a local car show with it. So I drove it back and forth to school. April 08 was an expensive month for it. The motor decided to open a gap in the gasket in between 1 and 2. Turns out whoever we bought it from slapped a new head on it to get it sold. Luckly, it happened on a friday, so we had it pulled out of her in a day. That week we searched for another Z24. We found one and picked it up a week later and had it installed in a day. Since then she has been (fairly) reliable and she's not leaving soon. Now for the cosmetic projects and pictures! Day after we bought her, still with her Oregon plates (April 06') Motor replacement (April 08') Dash replacement (December 08') (Photos to come when Photobucket quits being retarded) Current pics If your in/around the Vancouver area, keep a lookout for a 85 wearing moons, and look at the kid driving. Nissan_Boy85
As far as I know, the only paint on there that isn't original is the passenger front fender, the side that was in the wreck, and the tailpan. Quote Link to comment

The video was taken when it was about 34 degrees. sounds like its just runnin rich on startup like the choke isnt adjusted just right. your lucky! your truck will stay runnin by itself right after you start it! i have to have keep on the gas with mine for like five minutes before it will idle nicely by itself! lol but yeah, it looks like the choke it just to far closed or somethin like that. you exhaust sounds good too! 1 Quote Link to comment

Nissan_Boy85
Thanks for the complements/help guys. Sounds like it's time to play with the choke...again. That carb, along with the weber, should be getting a rebuild soon. Exahust is a unknown header with a V-Force (40 series?) Flowmaster if anyone was wondering. Quote Link to comment
Edz280zx
Flowmaster ftw!! Quote Link to comment
Phlebmaster
Nice truck! :D Do you have more pics of the engine rebuild? Quote Link to comment
Nissan_Boy85
Wasn't a rebuild, it was a swap-out. In-between 1 and 2 decided to make a gap in the gasket and the block. Since I parked it the day it went to crap (teh high school wasn't happy about me working on it while I was supposed to be in class), I saved the head on it. To answer your question, yes I do have more pictures. http://s303.photobucket.com/albums/nn151/Nissan_Boy85/Nissan%20720/Engine%20replacement/ Quote Link to comment
Nissan_Boy85
Well, I'm gonna turn this into a build thread. I've been in contact with a guy who has a KA. I'm hoping to pick it up sometime in the next couple weeks. The motor is up in Bremerton. I'll keep you guys posted with what happens. Oh, if someone coupld change the thread name to NB's 720 - Build Thread, that would be awesome. I'm special so i dunno if I can do that or not. Quote Link to comment

Nissan_Boy85
You as tired of seeing it in primer as I am Kiz? That's gonna be done before the swap. Actually...know what Bob's Paint charges for a pint of custom mixed paint? Quote Link to comment
Nissan_Boy85
Thank you much, sir. Anyways, update time. I'm getting the motor. I'm heading up north so if any ratsuners are up by the Bremerton area and wanna meet up, hit me up. Quote Link to comment
Nissan_Boy85
Update, I got the motor, and it's all torn apart. Drained water out of the oil pan, guide was missing for the timing chain and it was severly streached, mostly everything under the valve cover is rusted, valves are burnt, and cylinder 2 has some cancer under it and barely in it. So KA guys who have gone to a KA-T, what companies are good for a turbo build? 1 Quote Link to comment
nis720
There is not kit that will simply bolt on. I'm still piecing mine together and still need a few more to get it going. There will be alot of customizing to fit intercooler tubing. Check out my cardomain page for pics and specs (link in my sig) Quote Link to comment
dans86
that truck looks good, does any one know where i can get a header for my 720 Quote Link to comment

Nissan_Boy85
Update time! Well, I decided for a winter project to rebuild the motor. It's running rich, not idling right, leaking and burning oil, and I don't know the condition of the engine since I don't know the miles and it's a junk yard motor. So, I yarded it out and am going to start tearing it apart tomorrow. Since I'm from Ratsun, there has to be pics! Day 1: Day 2: Now, onto a question I got. The chrome thing in the center of the windshield seal, does it serve a purpose? Or can I remove it? Quote Link to comment
