q-tip
Naw I get fpd (feet per day). Or more likely with some parts tpd (tons per day) We haven't had anything that big in the shopnl in a while, been staying in the 6-12 ton range in part size lately. Quote Link to comment

thisismatt
I do work for millionaires (and billionaires). Does that count? 1 Quote Link to comment
graveltrapp
Just need to find that niche that either a shop is given up on or create a simple item that's quick and easy to make that we don't know we need yet. I make parts foe Boeing that take sometimes less then a minute to make but probably cost them$10 each, the other day we had an order for just over 400 of them all requiring one op after the extrusion was sawn to length. (About 6") three vises and no spot drill got the times to under a minute for three parts $$$ Thank god I was not on the mill that day. Quote Link to comment
Mattndew76
I do the quotes and programming for work and I get to see all the expense along with prod times. I want the income is see daily Quote Link to comment
q-tip
I'm in the opposite end of that spectrum, I don't one part in a week or two and it costs mid 6 figures. 1 Quote Link to comment
dr.feltersnatch
I am kind of in the middle of that. The parts we were running last week start as a 240 pound block and run for 2 hours. Comes off the machine at just under 7 lbs. They cost around $3000 1 Quote Link to comment
q-tip
Damn, that's a lot of material to remove! Quote Link to comment
dr.feltersnatch
It is. One of our biggest challenges with that part is warp. Quote Link to comment
q-tip
I bet it is, a lot of stress relieved when that much material gets removed. We have that problem a lot because we start with a casting full of carbon arcing and hard spots....and sand.....and cracks....and more sand....and more carbon arcing.....and then maybe some clean material, did I mention the sand? ]2eDeYe
A part that I designed for work. This is a manifold for a zero point clamp. Disclaimer: I did not machine these  Maybe I can post some pics of the completed tool when we get to that point. There are some rather large machined parts for the overall tool. 2 Quote Link to comment
