anyone know what this control box is?

after doing a little google search i couldn't figure out what this is. anyone else have one or know what it is?

 

if not i'll have to start following wires around and see what they connect to.

Looks like a relay...where is it...what's it on...how many wires going in? any numbers on the base near the wires?

i think that is for a dime with an automatic traqnsmission

From the diagram on the case it looks like a PNP transistor switching a relay on/off.

I've had that box in a few 510s. From what I can tell its from an auto car. I will check the diagram.

the wires that go to the auto tranny are black and blue, and maybe green. It would mke sense

I think it's called the move indicator relay. There is a speed detector in the auto tranny to let the emissions know that the car is in motion in order to select the correct set of advance or retard points. On the standard tranny there is a third/ fourth/ neutral switch, plus the clutch switch that takes care of this.

hmm all interesting. the car currently has an automatic tranny in it, so that would make sense. crazy emissions.

 

it is mounted on the pass. side under the dash but pretty much in plain sight

I too have that box in my auto trans 510. I didn't know what it did either. I had to unplug mine because it was clicking really loud when I was in motion.

Morning Mike. Thanks for that 'nugget' of info. The diagram I have shows it connected to the cable but it's not clear if it's in the tranny or not. Since standards are the norm its good to learn something about the auto. I checked the 620 auto and it doesn't seem to have it but maybe the 521?

the one on my 69 auto 510 had a adjustment screw on it i wonder what that was for?

I have never seen a auto 521, did they make them?
