Guest Mojo510
Hey guys, my boys 6 and 9 have a Jeep Renegade Power Wheels, the power the 12volt battery gives this thing is pretty pathetic, I'd like to convert this to 18v or 24volt. Anyone here modify their's for the kids? I need to know if the switches and motors can handle this without melting and if the motor transmissions can handle the torque. I don't want to start a money pit but my 6 year old looks at me like "Dad you could make this faster" Thx, Steven Quote Link to comment
Dolomite
You’ll strip gears fairly quickly with 24v. My buddy used to convert them to 18v with a “scramble boost” setup with a relay to go 24v for short periods of time. They would last a couple weeks with his daughter driving them. 1 Quote Link to comment
captain720
Get a cheap, ugly CL one so you can break it and figure out what not to do. Quote Link to comment
Dguy210
Best mod I've seen is using cordless drills to replace the motors, way more torque and speed. 1 Quote Link to comment

Dolomite
You could always toss a couple 1/8 scale brushless motors with 6s lipo and a scooter speed control and call it a $1000 project...or buy a go kart for less. Quote Link to comment
]2eDeYe
It's all about sustainable 12v power. I started running one of these and the gears and now gone  Mobility or electric wheelchair batteries. They are deep cycle and last a while between charges. I use a 1.5 amp trickle charger to recharge them. Quote Link to comment
