DeeBo91
I’ve been messing around with my 620 since it came out of storage. I bought the disc brake conversion for front and rear and a new master cylinder plus stainless brake line. I’m gonna be replacing bearings right away well swapping brakes out. I would like to do all the bushing and suspension parts. But here’s my question I wanna put a bigger motor over the winter instead of putting it in storage 1 Quote Link to comment
datzenmike
What does a 2Jz ENGINE weigh? almost 600 pounds and then a transmission on top of that? Well over 700 pounds when the stock engine is about 250? plus a 75 pound transmission. Yeah I would forget that and get something all aluminum. LS crate engine if you really must. 1 Quote Link to comment
DeeBo91
I just want to go faster but I guess that make since about the weight I just seen bigger motor swap just had a idea it would be fun if possible 1 Quote Link to comment
racerx
It may be fun but you will mess up the geometry of the car with bigger engine and more weight. 1 Quote Link to comment
DeeBo91
So what the biggest easiest swap or should I just search on the forums any insight would be great 1 Quote Link to comment
Stoffregen Motorsports
What's your skill set? Are you a good fabricator? If you don't mind heavy mods, then go LS. Everyone here knows I'm a big fan of LS engines, If you're not proficient with a welder and sheetmetal, you should keep it simple. The engine swap road is littered with the souls of cars and trucks that began the swap process, but never finished. 1 Quote Link to comment
Pacific coast Datsun
Stick with an L series & enjoy the truck...keep it simple. 2 Quote Link to comment
banzai510(hainz)
I think just keep it running and it wont cost much..Esp if a rust free truck thats been garaged$$$$$$ A running useful car is better than a project that never ends or completed Wisconsins are no datsuns anyway and you trying to make a swap with weird motors is just going to make another datsun go to the dump. Which is fine also. nobody buys these datsun when they are done cause most are hack jobs that maybe sell for 2K. Just not a practicle truck . even a later Nissan KA/SRengine I say 75% never get completed as the electric get most novice entry level car owners. Do the brake swap 1st then back to us if and when it gets dome If not done by end of summer just sell truck 1 Quote Link to comment
racerx
Biggest and easiest swap is an oxymoron. The biggest can be a 350 engine or more but the easiest is an L series. With bigger engine more fabrication, mo money with L series cheaper less fabrication and maybe none. Besides your skill set, do you have a garage? tools? resources and how much are you willing to spend? Do you have time? 1 Quote Link to comment
