freekwonder
Picked up a 1966 Ford F100 long bed. Previous owner had it for 30+ years. Took pretty good care of it, took out the 352 and put in a 302 and C6. No huge plans for now, we needed an around the house truck for home depot and dump runs. Wanted something older so we could put it on our hagerty insurance and not our everyday insurance that is expensive because of the teenage driver. So for now, just driver her and keep her running. 4 Quote Link to comment

Dolomite
No plans for a cvpi body swap, lolz? It’s nice to see an old f100 that isn’t going that route. 1 Quote Link to comment

I'm not against putting the CV front subframe under the truck for better/modern brakes and a nicer, but no body swap. Bed needs to stay flat and useful. If it can't haul loads it isn't useful to the wife. 1 Quote Link to comment

I respect the work, but we got this truck to be used as a truck. Can't do that when a rear crossmember is sticking through the bed floor. First thing is fixing the brakes. Pulls hard to the left, lots of pedal movement, but they work. So going to adjust and bleed the brakes. Quote Link to comment
Ooph!
I had a 65 short bed, wish I had it back but then I wish I had every vehicle I've ever owned back. To me for a big truck they are right sized, todays big trucks are WAY too large I like being able to reach into the bed over the rail without a step ladder. 1 Quote Link to comment

Aibast
Make it into a flatbed with. Good for transporting stuff. How strong are these things. We don't have these things in here. How much they carry? Quote Link to comment

How much they carry? We saw some flatbed trucks, but with wanting to be able to carry dirt or mulch, we wanted a full bed. How do you get Hagarty to cover it without lying about use? Honestly would have preferred a frontier or tacoma for their smaller size. But I'm not complaining with what we ended up with. Quote Link to comment
racerx
nah..older truck is better you can work on them easily, more room. Can't stand new cars or trucks, too pricey! Quote Link to comment

Eh they have their place. Had a 2013 Nissan Frontier and loved it. Didn't have to work on it, it just worked. Me likey Come over and check it out and bring those 510 rear a-arms with you :-) When they asked me if I hauled anything in my pickup I said occasionally, like 1-2 times a year, and they couldn't have declined my business any faster. Don't know, filled out the online stuff and talked to my insurance agent and got setup. Didn't physically talk to anybody at hagerty. Quote Link to comment

freekwonder
Quick adjustment on drums and now doesn't violently pull to the left when braking. And on a V8 aren't all 8 spark plugs supposed to be plugged in? Two came right off in my hand without a fight. Still needs a good tune. Quote Link to comment

freekwonder
...but you don't need to smog 75 and below in Calif. Washington, only have to worry about it being over 25 years old, or 2009+ with CA emissions. If it fits in one of those two categories, don't have to worry about smog checks or anything like that. ...hopefully they were just loose and spark plug hole was not stripped. Sorry, it was just the plug wire that wasn't fully seated on the plug, not the plug that was loose. Hell, I tried undoing two plugs and they were on pretty really good. I'm hoping I can remove them with out breaking them. Quote Link to comment

In my life, they never really want it. They just put up with it. lol. Oh the truck. yeah I'll blast the plugs with some PB blaster and let them sit for a while. Then go back at it. Can't drive anyways since I need to fix the brakes again. They are stuck engaged. Feels like the master cylinder isn't releasing. Would like to find something like that,...need something with out a computer controlled everything. It's nice having both. I love the creature comforts of my 16 Nissan Murano, but I love the simplicity of my Dime and Truck. Quote Link to comment
