73 datsun carburetor ??

Hi.

I recently bought this 73 datsun with everything original.has l18 with 4 speed.

Today when I was cleaning the carburetor ..I noticed that when I press full throttle ..only the right bore opens leaving the left bore completely shut.I tried few more times and it's the same.all these is done with engine off tho.

Is that normal or this carburetor need rebuilding??

If it's a stock carb, that is normal for a non running motor, the secondary is VACUUM ACTIVATED

Normal. When the engine reaches a point where more carb is needed the secondary is pulled open by a vacuum signal. It's all automatic.

dont be changing shit if not needed

sounds like your new to Datsuns. Most owners will kill these cars by making changes not needed.

I have learned with my old cars, especially VW-Porsche classics, the grease keeps them together! lol  

 

Cleaning them disturbs the natural healthy coating :)
