On every 510 I've ever done, the exhaust keeps the engine from tilting. You must raise the front of the engine to tilt the back down. This allows the trans to clear the metal hydraulic fittings and body itself.

Did you use a torque wrench to evenly install the pressure plate?
Did you over tighten the pressure plate?
Is this your first rodeo?


You can't hang if your nuts haven't dropped...it's physics

So finally I got it in .with a new clutch kit and a lot of banging/denting the firewall area

Hammers are NOT in the tool list for a clutch job. I just pulled a complete L19/trans without a single dent, patience! As well as being analytical of snags and hangups will get you through. Not brute force...

I’m guessing my post about using long bolts with heads cut off to guide the trans in were unread/unheeded.
Chrome door handles are under rated.
