Spiff
Bought this dorma rear sway bar for the 720 but it didn't come with any instructions. Does this look correct? 1 Quote Link to comment
Spiff
Or it might be 90 degrees off, but are the parts correctly assembled? 1 Quote Link to comment
datzenmike
Can't be right, the arms would bend around the axle when tightened. Looks like it would fit the leaf spring better. Post the entire bar and the fittings. 1 Quote Link to comment
Spiff
But it's to narrow to mount to the leafs, its only so wide it squeezes in between the shock absorbers. Here's a picture in the link https://www.summitracing.com/parts/rnb-927-150 But I see I'm missing several pieces, all the u bolts and one of the long bolts Quote Link to comment
Spiff
Okay so I found a couple of exhaust clamps so I might be able to use the u-bolts from those. These are the parts I have. So the bushing bracket sits on the axle with a piece of flat iron in between, held on with the u-bolts ? That leaves us with the square u brackets, end links and the long bolt which is supposed to 2 of and 2 sleeves. The end links I assume attaches to the crossbar at the rear somehow EDIT: I had a peek in the belltech instructions and they use a u bolt clamp between the flat plate and bushing brackets, perhaps that's where the square u brackets go. Makes sense I guess since there are two pairs of matching brackets and bushing brackets in terms of bolt hole spacing in the doorman kit EDIT2: And the bolts and sleeves are probably for use on a lowered vehicle. ]2eDeYe
Your pic looks correct compared to the pic in the instructions. I would assemble the bar and mounts outside the truck and set the assembly into the truck to see where everything lays out. Quote Link to comment
Stoffregen Motorsports
I rather like the pic in the instructions. The other way looks really clunky. Just be sure not to pinch the hard brake line when installing the bolts. 1 Quote Link to comment
Spiff
Yeah I'll just need to get some pipe clamps in the right size, the ones I had where to small Quote Link to comment

G-Duax
Also referred to as axle U-bolts. Made to fit several common axle tube diameters. People like Speedway Motors, SouthWest Speed, and JEG's has them. The 620 tubes are approximately 2.75". I used 3", and squeezed them down, then later found 2.75" ones somewhere....Always happens. Still looking for those damn brackets, where ever in the world I stashed them. But they are nothing more that 2.75" leaf spring perches that I bought from one of the aftermarket, race car vendors. Stoffregen Motorsports
That's why I gave the McMaster-Carr link, so he could source the right u-bolt the first time around. The don't need to be "axle" strength bolts as they aren't holding the axle in place, only the sway bar. So they can be much smaller diameter, like 3/8". 1 Quote Link to comment
G-Duax
My axle bolts (u-bolts) are 3/8". McMaster doesn't have anything in a 2.75", just 2.5" and 3", so you will probably have to go 3", and squeeze them down. 5/16" will probably work. Just remember, they have to go under the brake line.... Quote Link to comment
Stoffregen Motorsports
3/8 u-bolts for the axle? Teeny. Quote Link to comment
Spiff
So glad you mentioned leaf spring perches, I didn't know what they where called in English so was thinking I had to make them myself for the axle swap but now I can just get them from summit or ebay Quote Link to comment
