More money than sense

Nissan is flexing its genius muscle again offering us a variable compression engine https://www.caranddriver.com/reviews/infiniti-kr20-variable-compression-turbocharged-engine-prototype-drive-review the KR20. We always needed 8:1 – 14:1 compression ratio with 23lbs of boost.

I think datsunfreak should build his 28th 510 with one. Use a $40,000 donor to build a $6,000 car

I found this engine tech interesting and i am planning on watching how it performs in the market for sure.

Also interesting is the Mazda skyactive X. Compression ignition (diesel style) gas engine. Supposed to only use spark plugs until it's up to operating temperature.

The old 12 piston 6 cylinder seems more effective. Simpler too.

Your shop looks exciting, since you are old school have you ever considered building anything using a LD28? I hear with twin turbos it will produce 1100HP and if you ever get to see inside one you will get to see what the good stuff looks like. I would shim the injectors to their maximum brake point and achieve 48MPG so it's possible to experience more G's with more MPG

Thanks.

I have never used an LD28 in diesel form, but i have used plenty of the LD28 blocks and cranks to build 3200, 3300 and 3400 cc Z car motors. The last one I built was for Hoover Chan of TurboHoses and Noble supercar fame. It made 650hp.

That was a long time ago. I don't build engines anymore (if I can help it). I do mostly trucks now and a lot of V8 swaps.
