Your Thoughts on Frontier Pickups?

                 I'm looking at a '98 Frontier pickup - 4WD,4 cylinder,5 speed.

Has a speedometer problem (ground?) that needs to be fixed.No rust,

& in really good shape.I think that it shows 121,000 miles.

              He's asking $4,000 for it,but might take $3500.

                       

           Your thoughts?

Get worse gas mileage than a Tacoma, but at 1/3 the price. 

 

I looked at them. Nice trucks! I'd own one.. but I commute so gas mileage was important to me, so I paid up.

I prefer the hardbody over the frontier. Looks better,  the windows in the king cab area still open.    But frontiers are die hard like the hardbody.  My sister has beat the shit out of hers,  my dad paid 5k, and it had 50k miles on it only.   Sucks cuz shes completly beat the shit out of it.

I have an 01. Crew can 4X4. Vg33. It's a bit under-powered for me but I love it. I'll get another when I'm done kicking the shit outta her.

Tacoma is a way better truck. Holds its value way better too.

I’m usually die hard Nissan, but Gato is right. Same year Taco will straight stomp a Frontier, the Toyota has more ballsand better mileage. The v6 Tacoma is even better.

My daughter thought about this truck! Over  priced for the market.  She bought a chavy and has regertefd her choice ever since,

I still say for the price, a frontier is fine and I own a Tacoma.

 

You can get a double cab Frontier for around 4k, or a double cab Tacoma for 12k. If mileage isn't a huge factor.. Frontier is fine. 

 

Just depends what you are going to do with it I guess.

(SuperCab,351,automatic) gets about 10 -11 mpg on my 30 minute commute (each way).

               I also found a '99 Tacoma extra cab in nice shape,on a lot.They're asking $7000

for it.I'm figuring I could get around $8000 for the F150,but would be nice to have more $$$

left after the sale.

                 I want an extended cab truck that gets decent mileage,& would like to keep the

price around $5000.

                I keep thinking there's something that I haven't considered.

4 cylinder gets decent mileage actually. I just looked it up. The v6 suffers.

Really enjoyed having a Frontier. Wished I never got rid of it. 2nd gens look way better than 1st

The Frontier should get 19MPG and it wont brake like the Tacoma, stick with an OE oil filter on the 4cyl, not important on the 6cyl

My ‘79 Toyota is still good to go. My ‘87 hardbody is basically a parts truck waiting for me to get the rest of the parts to vg swap my 510.

Had a 75 Celica back in the days with 20r engine and toyota truck 90 w 22 r and a 90s nissan truck for awhile, toyota had more power. Not sure about the newer ones.
