Are those better,worse no different?

Gas-a-just are "better." They're stiffer, and use a pressurized nitrogen to prevent foaming, etc.

The GR-2 and Excel-G are oem replacement, and are the same exact thing besides their color and sticker.

When I had the cut zx struts on my 510, I had the excel g, they were so shitty I gave the whole setup back to james and got uncut struts so I could run the 15 year old zx tokico illumina inserts I had in my stock housings. The g stands for garbage.

There's not much difference between shocks they all do the same thing but buying a shock that was designed for your car or truck is impossible unless from the dealer. This is like saying your Weber was made for your L16 which is rubbish. It will work on it but not designed for it. So how can KYB say it's for a 510 other than it has the correct length and mount ups. They designed in the correct compression and rebound rate????

If you have the original shock and it isn't leaking (blown seal) just soft, refill it. Use thicker oil for more resistance.

Add to that lighter or heavier rims or tires, stiffer springs and suspension mods and most of all personal preference. All you can do is experiment and get something that works for what you want. Shocks are like after market ignition coils... different paint colors and promises and catchy names like Accell and Flamethrower, but pretty much made in the same factory in China. A street car has barely a few inches of suspension travel because of the stiffer springs and lower ride height so the shocks are not traveling any great distance. Keep in mind you're not driving to Dakar or Baja and jumping through the air.
