MRCLEWHP Posted March 20, 2018 Report Share Posted March 20, 2018 Hey guys I'm new to Ratsun but I need help please. Last week I bought an 81 Datsun 720 king cab pickup and it had what felt like a misfire so I bought a distributor cap and rotor. I just installed both tonight and truck started and idled great but as soon as I turned on headlights to test drive the truck shut off and now won't start again. datzenmike Posted March 20, 2018 Report Share Posted March 20, 2018 Shut off instantly or stumbled and quit? Does the engine turn over with the starter? If yes there are two things need that need checking. Spark and gas. Pull one of the wires off the intake side and put an old plug in the end. Lay it on a grounded surface and have someone turn the engine over with the starter is there spark? Now do one from the exhaust side... got spark? Look at the round sight glass on the front of the carburetor. Can you see the gas level showing?? 1 Quote Link to comment
