vdubbles24
So last night I was tearing rear end down, upon removal of wheels I found no RR brake drum!! Pieces of the backing plate, wheel cylinder, and part of the drum is still there! So upon searching the web I've had no luck locating the backing plates. I can get every other part from rock auto to rebuild them. Anyone have any suggestions? I tried to post a wanted ad but I'm still to new to the forum. I've been a 720 owner for 5 days now, I drove it home Sunday and it stopped ok for a 35 year old vehicle. It all makes sense now lol 1 Quote Link to comment
Charlie69
Buy from wrecking yards. You might have to buy a complete rear diff to get the backing plate. Quote Link to comment
vdubbles24
This is the only 720 I've seen around here! I got a hold of beebani and am going to order his brackets to do a rear disc brake swap, Isuzu rotors, calipers, and pads. 1 Quote Link to comment
wayno
Since your doing a rear disc brake swap you do not need the backing plates, or do you? 1 Quote Link to comment
datzenmike
Wayno I don't think so, they would be in the way. 1 Quote Link to comment
wayno
The issue here is that them backing plates changed so often over the years that one has to know which type one needs before buying them, and it helps to have one to take a photo of when asking folks for a set, I have several different types, but personally I would keep the type that were self adjusting for myself to put on my own vehicles. 1 Quote Link to comment
bottomwatcher
Never thought of this before. Going to larger rear drums makes sense. I don't believe bebani's has a parking brake. 1 Quote Link to comment
petercscherer
Beebani's rear disc kit does have capabilities of using a rear parking brake, the Honda Passport donor rotors are meant for internal e-brake drums. But I don't believe there are easily available parts to get that hooked up to the Datsun parking-brake assemblies. ~Peter 1 Quote Link to comment
