turn signal mystery

so i recently fixed my turn signal inside the steering column because only the right one turned on and i got both to turn on but now i changed my turn signals that go in the front bumper and i had to rewire them because they had different connectors and now neither one will blink and they stay on when i turn the turn signals on but my hazards work and they blink fine

any advise on how to get them to blink ? could it be the new turn signals?

side note i also changed a lot of the light on the int. and ext. and cluster of the car to LED bulbs i seen somewhere that if one bulb goes out on the car the turn signals wont blink. could LEDs have something to do with the circuit not working correctly?

If the 4 way flashers work then the wiring is good from the flasher out to the bulbs.

Swap the 4 way flasher unit with the turn signal unit and see if the problem moves to the 4 way. If so, the original turn flasher unit was bad.

You did not say what bulbs are changed to LED.

Did you change dash turn indicator bulbs to LED?

Did you change rear turn bulbs to LED?

Did the front turn signals ever flash after fixing the switch?

It is best to do 1 thing at a time with electrical, makes trouble shooting a lot easier when something goes wrong.

i changed all the cluster lights and the one light behind the heater piece and i changed the rear license plate lights and the running light near the grill. and yes they worked temporarily when i fixed the switch... but i should also mention the light in the new turn signals that are in the grill are slightly different im not sure the size... but they are not 194s

Many of the older Nissan Datsun flasher units are load dependent needing a minimum number of filament lamps to draw enough power through the flasher to make it work. Adding a trailer made them flash faster. A burned out buld might cause it to not flash or flash slowly.

Newer flashers are electronic and have a set flash speed. You might check what you have. The old ones are small little aluminum cans, the electronic ones tend to be clear, larger and you can see the resistors and capscitors inside. These might work better where LEDs were used.

The problem you have is you chanbed the cluster turn indicator lights to LEDs.  The turns lights turn on one front bulb 1 rear bulb and the same side turn indicator bulb.  There is not enough draw for the flasher to flash with only the 2 standard bulbs and 1 LED.  This is all dependent on the wiring and the turn signal switch all being good working order.

The flasher circuit works because you are turning on 4 bulbs and the 2 cluster LEDs at the same time.

Change all your bulbs to LEDs and run either the resistor or the LED flashers.  It is simple.
