Drummerboy4as
I bought this airdam from Steroid several years ago and wasn't able to get it to fit right, so it sat on a shelf for a long time. Recently I dug it out to give it another try along with a Camaro chin spoiler and a MK1 duckbill. Steroid airdam, I still really like it but I cant quite get it to fit and I don't especially want to bondo the crap out of the front end. Camaro lip. I really like it but it's too wide. If I use it I'll likely cut about 4" from the center and bond it back together. MK1 duckbill. I really like the way this one fits, the contours match pretty well and I like the styling of it. It's just a little too short. I'm not sure if its ABS or what, but there's a local plastics place nearby that can likely tell me and supply me with options for making a patch. Opinions? Anyone have experience with any of them? 2 Quote Link to comment

banzai510(hainz)
stock looks fine to me being older now otherwise the Camero or VW Rabbit type spook looks good 1 Quote Link to comment
Moist Lightning
Steroid = kinda 80s looking (boxy). not my cup of tea. Camaro = Nice but even if you got the edges to fit proper i think it looks a little off still Duckbill = Looks good if you can patch it would look great. 2 Quote Link to comment

datsunfreak
Mount the license plate over the gap. This. But I also dig the air dam. 2 Quote Link to comment
datsunfreak
Put a bend in the license plate so it's half on the spoiler, half on the valence? That way it's level at the bottom. 3 Quote Link to comment

Anonymous Waffle
I'm not a front spoiler kinda guy, but If I were you, I'd go with the mk1 duckbill, it flows better than the Steroid or camaro. And it looks real good from the mocking up photos. 1 Quote Link to comment
wayno
I like Mr Waffle above am not a spoiler type of guy, but it looks alright with the plate there, if that is the way you are going to go I would make a plate the size of the license plate that has sides shaped to the spoiler and the valance, that would look cleaner, what I would do is make the sides(valance/spoiler) at least a half inch too long and bend that extra in towards the middle where it can be used for mounting to the valance/spoiler, doing this will make the mounting of the spoiler center way more solid and even if the plate wasn't there it would still hide the gap, if done right you could even have extra on the bottom and fold that the length of the bottom including folding it around the spoiler for even more stabilization, the only drawback I see is if you hit the ground or a curb you will destroy all of it with it being so solidly mounted. 1 Quote Link to comment
danfiveten
Love mine. My front valance was all bent and beat to shit, so mine did not want to fit right. On my old 620 it fit perfectly. 3 Quote Link to comment
distributorguy
I'd throw your license plate in a sheetmetal brake and form it to wrap around the lower edge a little bit to help hold the halves together, then crease the center to follow the valence and spoiler contour. If you want to use the Camaro spoiler, heat it with a paint stripping gun ($10) and soften the ABS. While its soft, you can clamp it in place until it cools. It should stretch enough to pull the ends up to the profile of the valance. Even, warm heat is the key. Be patient. 2 Quote Link to comment
Drummerboy4as
I emailed MK1 autohaus to see if they have any scraps laying around I could purchase. Be nice to get the same material to make a patch 1 Quote Link to comment

Pacific coast Datsun
I have the first one you posted on my 620. They are a pain to install & you may need to trim a bit of the lip off around the signal lenses. Mount your first nut /bolt in the center then work your way out to the fenders. The air Damm will flex quite a bit but won't break. 1 Quote Link to comment
Drummerboy4as
Decided on the MK1 duckbill. Got an email from MK1 Autohaus and unfortunately they didn’t have any info or scraps for me. So I bought some kydex and I’m going to try to mold up a section for the middle. If it looks good I’ll put the license plate in the normal spot, if it doesn’t I’ll cover it up with the license lol 4 Quote Link to comment
Drummerboy4as
Got the duckbill mounted today and started playing with patching options. Drivers side done and holes drilled for passenger Both sides done. Really happy with how it turned out, no gaps (except for that big David Letterman one in the center there ) and it follows the contour of the body nicely. I'm using Kydex to make the patch for the center. It's nice and sturdy and can be formed with a heat gun. I'm just messing with a scrap piece to see if I can form it the way I want it. I'll need to blend it into the sides so its not so obvious, but overall it looks promising. 3 Quote Link to comment
Racso_Dor
Looks great so far  I also bought the MK1 lip after reading your thread, please let me know of any tips on the install. Quote Link to comment

Pretty straight forward so far. There’s ridges on the lip where it mounts to the truck that you have to sand down for it to mate properly then I drilled holes every 4” inches or so in the air dam then transferred those holes to the truck to drill. I also used the existing bolt in the corners of valence on the truck as a solid anchor point for the air dam. I’ll post more pictures of the patch in the center as I work on it. Quote Link to comment
