1lo620
Ok probably going to get in trouble from Mike or Steve for posting in wrong place. I am looking for an exhaust manifold for an L series . I am running an old school cast iron one off a 521 But cold weather out in minneapolis cracked it. So anyone have something lying around that might work let me know And if this is posted in wrong place so sorry.. Quote Link to comment
datzenmike
Put the manifold in your barbecue with lots of charcoal and get it HOT. Then use a torch to get the crack area red hot and stick weld it in place. Put the ground clamp on the outside of the barbecue. Cook up some dogs and when done let cool slowly. 2 Quote Link to comment
G-Duax
Make sure you take any high temp paint off, and all the carbon deposits out of the inside first. They leave a nasty taste on the dogs.... Oh, and if your married, don't let your wife know  1 Quote Link to comment
datzenmike
It goes without saying that it goes without saying. Like cleaning your valve cover in the dishwasher. 1 Quote Link to comment
1lo620
Not a welder sorry. But that does sound like an easy way to fix. Quote Link to comment
datzenmike
Take some dogs and an old BBQ over to a friend's that has a stick welder. Quote Link to comment
carterb
are you in Minneapolis or Renton? I have one in Lynnwood - 30 minutes north of Renton. Do you know what year your manifold is? The '68/'69 510 L16 manifold had a smaller diameter Y-pipe than the later cars. Not sure about the trucks. --carter Quote Link to comment
