85 King Cab - Sell or Parts?

Hey all - So I have come to the sad conclusion that I have to say goodbye to my 720. She got hit last winter while she was parked, and the frame got bent. *sad trombone*
So I guess what I'm asking for is general advice - Is there any chance of getting a decent price for it if I sell it for parts? Should I just junk it? It seems like a shame, given that most of the body is still in really good shape. 
Some details - damage is to the rear passenger side of the bed - busted tail light, bent bumper, etc. I have pics, and can post them later if it helps. The rest of the body is in pretty good shape. Interior is nice, some usual wear and tear, but no cracking, mostly original parts. Engine runs solid, starts up strong, even runs well and drives reasonably well. The bend in the frame is behind the rear axle. Undercarriage is pretty rusted out. I'm in Pittsburgh, and the salt had taken its toll before I ever owned her.

Probably the salt damage weakened the frame and the bumper crash pushed it in. A bend behind the axle won't hurt the driving. But I guess finding a new box or bumper in Pittsburgh will be a lot of bother. That's a shame. Well try to find a buyer who want's the entire truck for parts and he can drive it away. Selling parts like fenders involves shipping and a lot of BS like having to take them off and package them. The good news is there are not a lot of old 720s on the wrong coast so it may be in demand by someone who does have one. What's scrap worth couple of hundred?

Yeah, my guess is I'd get a couple hundred at best for scrap.  I've put up a few ads, and hopefully I can find someone who wants the whole thing for parts.  

 

Thanks for the advice, I really appreciate it.  Any suggestions of what a reasonable price would be to sell it whole for parts?

Well up to you. You can get scrap price so that a starter. Someone may offer you more. I've let stuff go for less than scrap price because it was simply going to a good home that needed it. Remember that these can't be replaced anymore, once scrapped, they are gone forever. I almost NEVER throw parts away although I might give them away. There is always some nut or bolt that can be used, or someone may need it to keep their Datsun/Nissan on the road with it.

It'd be easiest for you to sell the whole truck for parts or to someone who doesn't mind driving it like that. You'd get more money parting it out, but it would take several years, if you ever do get all of it gone.

Idk about several years (almost ready to dump the rest of whats left of my 81 parts truck so i can start wrenching apart the 99 ram 1500 i bought for $250) and ive only had the 81 for about 2 months.

 

Parting it out would almost guarantee a bigger profit rather than selling someone the whole thing but that also goes back to if you have the room/time/tools etc.

 

if you have the room and time to part it i would say go for it as from my experience so far of parting out the 81 has made me a lot more confident in wrenching on my 85 because the extra bucket of parts and if something goes wrong I have a template to look at.

 

As for pricing items when ur selling parts I use car-part.com, ebay, and pick-n-pull pricing to list my items. I usually match whatever price I find and charge 20/hr for my time to wrench on it. and if the customer wants to come and wrench on the truck i wont charge labor.

 

Example: couple Sundays ago I had someone over wrenching on it themselves and I just stayed inside and watched football and got paid $100 for parts i didn't even have to touch.. Even though i may have been able to make another $100-150 total off the parts he took i'm not worrying about it so much because the conversations with other people and 720s is satisfying to say that their truck is back on the road because of me.
