Don't buy a BRE spook from Retrospec

Just wanted to give you guys a heads up on something that happened to me...

I ordered a BRE spook from Retrospec for a 510 I'm working on and it never showed up. Two months passed and nothing. Then they gave me a UPS tracking number two weeks ago and UPS never shows to have picked it up.

I paid through PayPal, so I was able to dispute the charge and get the refund process started. And then they waited a week to even answer the email from PayPal about the disputed charge. Now they are saying "it's packaged up and ready to go, but since you disputed it we can't send it", which I do not believe for one second.

Almost sounds to me like they are tying to make it sound like it's my fault that I didn't get it...   :hmm:

Sorry, but FutoFab is not currently selling composite parts.

FutoFab outsourced the fabrication of our composites parts from our molds. We stopped selling these parts because the composites industry seems to be filled with vendors that are horrible business people.

We had been working with one shop that produced decent quality parts, but their delivery was NEVER timely. I would try to get several spooks made in advance so I would have them in stock, but inevitably they never got done and I was always running behind on delivery, sometimes it would get out to 12 weeks to get just one spook done.

The delays got so bad I stopped selling composite parts. This shop eventually went out of business.

I tried to work with another shop, the same issue, way too long to deliver completed parts and extremely poor communication. I couldn't count the number of unanswered messages I left, both telephone and email.

We own the molds and if we could team with a reputable fabricator, we would bring back our BRE Spook and more.

I've seen this so many times in other forums, I instantly jump on the little wanna-bes when ever someone new wants to do a 'Group Buy', and wants orders up front before starting the project.

(mostly in the Toyota Cressida forums), but I'm sure it's everywhere.

You know what they say, group buys, are like group sex, everyone gets screwed....

I ordered my spook straight from BRE. Delivered within 1 week, with all mounting hardware and illustrated instructions.

i was going to suggest this

buy direct

no bullshit only great quality and service

Last I knew BRE didn't make them in-house either. They too were using a subcontractor.

Unless you do composite work regularly, like 40 hrs a week, it doesn't make sense to do it at all. Resins have a shelf life and bulk purchasing is the only way you can keep material costs down.

I agree with this

I think they have someone good and does the quality they expect

when the aerovault trailer sub contractor couldn't keep up and or provide the quality peter expected peter opened his own trailer manufacturing next to the BRE shop

QUALITY CONTROL
