Hey out there I am about to bore an L18 to 87mm Z22 pistons and L16 long rods been wanting to do this 2mm is a lot ,the machinist is concerned Nissan comp book said you can go 3mm ouch.

I heard it's not really a problem but I was told it would be a good Idea to have the block sonic tested for cracks....

Might be worth it looking into just to be sure....

I have a few Nismo head gaskets stashed , I will make sure it is close to 87mm , Also Mike I left this part out the L18 has an O ringed block for a turbo in the day or high compression motor .( I will take some pics when bback from machine shop) considering a 219 with a fat cam can't decide was going SU for a good driver but now considering some 45mm webers but my daughter has to drive during summer vacation from college, I recently inherited a 69 4dr that this set up is going in now has full suspension and 5spd. 1968 rear clip.will post oucs.wQ6i2Kw.jpgOlssg9w.jpg

L18's can even go to 89mm if your machine shop knows what they're doing.

Mine didn't...

Damn bores are all angled towards the front by .005" on a 6" square.

Idiot Pete Kotzur (Kotzur Racing Engines, San Antonio, TX) didn't have the block setting in the machine evidentially.

Thankfully I checked before putting the head on.

Guessing 'merican V-shit iron isn't effected by piss poor machine work.

Now, I either have to try to get someone to straiten them with only a .5mm over bore, and new custom pistons,

or find another L18 block, and start over.

Need to pick up motor at machine shop , Pistons are below deck and Franklenstein list says .29 below deck with closed chamber head will still be in 9 to one + it says , so I can't wait to assemble , I may put in 521 we recently picked up ! parked 38 yrs will need brake conversion to disc .
