Doesn't the choke lower the jet?

Stuck?

I am definitely not an expert....with that said I believe choke lowers the jet. Anyways I followed some advice and made sure the lever inside the car was in the forward position which lifts the jet body on the bottom of the carb. I then used my finger and made sure they were pushed up and now I'm not having issues.

what did you use (product and method) to eat through all that oxidation and not leave buffer swirl marks?

I guess it probably shouldn't have turned out that nice then lol......I didn't even remove the dirt or grease I got on it working on the engine and trans...

I used a harbor freight Chicago electric variable speed buffer (maroon one) on the lowest speed "10" with a crappy used pad and Meguiars ultra cut compound (the bottle on the right). I only went over the car once and took a total of 45 minutes. After using the buffer I wiped it off with a dirty terry cloth towel. I probably should've spent more time but after reaching for perfection on the roof and not wanting to stop even though I was beat I decided to do a quickie on the rest of the car...

Whenever I think that I'm out of my mind for putting this much time and money into an old Datsun, all I have to do is look some of your threads to know that I'm not nearly as whack as you are.

You're going to skin a few knuckles, stand up too fast and bump your head, hunt around the floor for the nuts and bolts you dropped, invent a few new cuss words and when you're finished you'll say "That wasn't so hard after all!"

Drove the car to work on Wednesday....farthest from home I've been so far, it did ok but really needs some carb work and I need to inspect the rear half shafts. I had a hard time starting it because the rear carburetor was dumping fuel into the motor. After swapping plugs around so they could dry out I was able to get it fired and drive it home. Even with the issues it was extremely fun to drive, although parking in the work garage and paying bridge toll was a chore.... :)

So I am never the best at remembering to take photos during the process but I have a couple. Yesterday my friends Eric and Ralph came over and Eric repaired the left rear wheel arch for me and they both helped me lower the car a bit. In addition Eric worked his magic on the carbs so now it is running better than ever.
