I have this vision in my mind...

Recommended Posts

So ya, I had one back in the day (92-94) it was orange it was a hatchback it was cool and yes it had rust.
So ya, when it came time to replace my 74 Celia GT I said no way,  I'm replacing the B. So here we are. And who is "we" Anyway?
Well me... who cares? We're here to talk about cars. The b is a 76 white on blue hatchback with a not happy four cylinder and an automatic from Anaheim. A nice Mexican family has been keeping an eye on it for me for the last few years. And like I said "I've got this vision in my head" so it's time to get to work.
You've seen me around and it's time for an update. So I might as well start a build thread that I should of done from the start.
Just a few pictures that we're all ready posted just to consolidate and then some updates.

Summer time grilling. Posted an ad here on Ratsun for a broken grill and found this one from a member down in Cali. Turns out I was literally down the street from him in my 18 wheeler delivering apples so swung off an off ramp off the 10 and he met me there. Picked up the grill and took it home where I cut a chunk out of it. The hole on the left side is the one I cut out and the hole on the right was there when I bought it. This was exactly what I was looking for and it worked perfect. I cut the emblem out of the one on the car and fitted the other piece in its place. Not that I am ashamed of any of the emblems on the B but the car simply looks more sanitary without them.

Posted another ad on here for a motor and got a response from Denver. Just so happens that my truck goes there too so I picked it up from an MG guy who bought the whole car for the 5 speed tranny. So I came home and decided it was about time to switch these things out so I can actually drive my car because the current motor wasn't running right. I ran out of weather before I ran out of upgrades so yes the car is sitting in winter hibernation waiting to be finished but hey. Figured I might as well throw a 5 speed in it at the same time up from a "4" and simply could not abide that carburetor and intake assembly with its I/M accoutrements. So stepped up to a set of mirror image true SU carb assembly. Placed another ad on here looking for an exhaust manifold and got a response from a guy who had A10 Cherry. Air cleaner assembly? Good question but I got that covered as well. Had the head rebuilt and put on double valve springs.

Yes, 13 inch on the front and 15s on the back. Yeah I have the 5 speed no I didn't get the coils but its electronic. Finally got my seats in after they have been sitting in the box for three years because the brackets they bolt to had to be custom made and catalitic convertor hump delete.
