After much thought and work on my taillights I decided with as NICE as this car is turning out I was really getting bummed about installing the lights I had.......don't get me wrong they are super nice and would've been fine but I had to fix a bunch of mounts, create my own rubber gaskets, and I wasn't feeling good about it. When a NOS set came up for sale I could not resist. Probably not the best financial decision but they are DEFINITELY worth EVERY penny. This car was supposed to be a.............wait for it........budget build **cough cough**. Just a quick spray job and assemble................as you can see I got a little carried away. So to answer your question this motor ran great in my other car (search "wanabre") but leaked like a sieve....front, back, sides, you name it. It ran strong and didn't smoke. It definitely was built with some go fast parts but obviously wasn't well put together.......gasket maker instead of gaskets, silicone all over, etc. etc, So the plan was to pull apart and reseal while replacing the cam. Unfortunately I had some bent valves so I had to replace with some good used ones. Pistons were not removed. Prior to disassembling we did leak down and compression tests and they came out good. The only purchased parts were seals, timing kit, springs, and cam (lash pad were good).....and some external parts (fuel pump, water pump, thermostat housing, etc.). I used the best borrowed parts from other motors. There was also no machining done on this build. Hope this answers your question 2 Quote Link to comment

I guess it's a case of I wanted to see how it looked LOL. I know I need to remove both. I have the wiper pivots but am still waiting on the linkages from Japan. The grill needs to come off to be touched up and to install the correct bolts behind it. Not to worry some future pics will likely show that it has magically been done hahaha Nickle&dime no clue on the pistons.... 89mm though. Motor will be 2140cc 1 Quote Link to comment

five1oh Posted May 1, 2018 Author Report Share Posted May 1, 2018 small updates - painted my steering arms, cleaned off and installed rear coilovers, and spent about an hour chatting with Craig Ford getting my harness labeled and understanding where all the plugs went to. It was pretty self explanatory looking at the plugs and colors of wires but it was great to get confirmation on some questions I had. Thanks Craig! Have you used these before, any slippage, thoughts, etc.... Mine is just sitting for the time being and I've been wondering about the ProShock setup. Also, beautiful build! The color choice and attention to detail are spot on. I hope you drive this thing hard, it's lovely and deserves to be anything but a trailer queen!!! They are pretty bouncy but work. I was going to by a new setup from Ermish for the rear on this car but I am broke.....maybe later. The collar has the ability to have a locking set screw but there is not one installed. I ran these on "wanabre" for a year with no issue....I will probably find a set screw and use it on this car though. Thanks for the kind words.....this WILL be a driver. I drove 650 miles so far this week and only 50 miles were in my beater '92 Integra........the other 600 miles were in my '70 FairladyZ ("s30 ldy" in the build thread). What is the point of owning these cars if you don't drive them?? My White '69 510 (nicest one I ever had....before this one) was my daily driver/commuter for 18 months. Doctor510 - on the motor questions I don't know the answers - don't know how to make flat top pistons out of dished - motor is a L20b block and I am unsure of the crank, I am guessing stock but I don't know. I went to Troy Ermish's last week and picked up my RHD Idler Arm with NEW delrin bushing installed, picked up my RHD drag link with new joint installed and steering ends drilled out to 5/8". Also picked up his rod end steering kit. five1oh Posted May 4, 2018 Author Report Share Posted May 4, 2018 I installed the hood trim on my car, put one 1/4 window weatherstripping on, and modified my brake setup to fit (I had to shave down the booster to body bracket to fit above the column cutout and I had to bore out the booster to master bracket to accept the 7/8" brake master cylinder I am running. My friend peter helped (or should I say he did) while I provided moral support and helped route the lines. While we were out trying to find line and fittings we could not find any 25ft steel rolls.....but we did find this copper alloy that looks sweet! I am happy with the way they were run as this was my first time ever doing this. They could be cleaner but I am very happy with the result. We were able to hide some lines behind the steering box brace. They will get the job done. First task was mounting the brake bracket, booster, master, and clutch master. We had to shorten the input shafts on both as they contacted the pedals. five1oh Posted May 9, 2018 Author Report Share Posted May 9, 2018 So the more I looked at the engine bay the more I disliked my brake line routing so I decided to redo them. This time I changed out the clutch master with a friends so that the line came out the side. I also relocated the rear line to go straight under the car instead of crossing sides, and I moved the passenger side brake line to route under the radiator. VERY HAPPY I changed it before motor install even though I had to spice in to extend the passenger line. five1oh Posted May 9, 2018 Author Report Share Posted May 9, 2018 My friend Peter came over yesterday to install my headliner for me........THANK YOU SO MUCH PETER!!!!!!!!!!!! We didn't quite finish but got a long way in the right direction. I pulled out my glass while Peter started on the headliner........I bought this rear window a year ago and TOTALLY forgot it looked like this........holy crap. So I spent about an hour scraping and removing glue. I also laid out the weatherstripping in prep for install.
