US is 12x6, Japanese is 12.5x6.

Which is why they always look better with a Japanese plate.   B)

It's your car, just don't ruin it.

This seems like an elaborate ploy to get me to say "I like the D".

Correct.  Rather than drill holes I bought a set of machined brackets.  Have them for my Hako too.  The Fairlady Z previous owner drilled new holes so that one sits flush with either plate.  This is why my "1972" plate sits out about 1/2" due to the brackets.

yeah I was half asleep when I posted that, after I noticed you had a Japanese plate on and there was no point of me messing up your thread with measurements you don't need. Sorry. Carry on with the pictures

Only NEW picture I have.  I got the car up on jack stands last night and cleaned the garage with the help of friends so I have more space to work.  You can always check out my Flickr album to see every picture I have so far (currently 669 pictures)

Be cautious when you put on the lower chrome window trim on the doors. The one that runs along the bottom edge of the window.

It will tend to want to rub the rear vertical of the window frame and will scratch the paint (ask me how I know). Couple layers of painters tape on the frame rail, and you'll be good to go!

I had a very productive weekend doing something I was scared to do for fear of overspray.  Turned out great!  I knocked off loose material, cleaned, prepped, masked and painted my inner fenders!

I also painted some areas with body color spray paint I purchased when I got the paint.  Firewall bare metal and tail panel bare metal repairs are now covered in cactus green:

Need some advice from everyone on my floor pans.  While waiting for Eric to come down and fix the minor rust holes I decided to remove the factory applied undercoating.  I am VERY surprised at the cleanliness of the metal.  My plan was to have the holes welded up and then cover the inside of the floor as well as the underside of the car with POR-15 which I bought.  My question is should I reapply the factory rubberized undercoating over the POR-15 on the bottom of the car or leave it as is.  I am leaning towards having the undercoating but wondering what opinions are out there and why.

No reason not too. Quieter drive and better rust protection.

The POR-15 is reputed to be super hard to chip, so I think you'll be safe if you don't, but I would.

A few more updates.  I have been doing some little things while I wait for floor rust holes to be welded up and final fitment of pedal box.  Once that is done I can drop off my dash, pedal box, and misc. other parts for powdercoating.

While my safari grill is in 9/10 shape I didn't like how the silver bars were painted over so I dropped them off for some polishing, in addition I dropped off some other trim for repair and new chrome

Looks like you masked off the freeze plugs. If you want to polish them it's easy with an old valve stuck in a drill and some steel wool.

Thanks for the tips guys!  I saw that pen but I guess now I need to buy one.  Never heard of the freeze plug tip so thank you!  .....and 240zness thanks for the kind words! to me the details are what makes the car.  It is funny because my vision I saw looking at that rusty shell is starting to come together before my eyes!  I can't wait to be on the road.  I still have a shot at finishing by 5/10.  That is the goal!
