Looks great!

I'm using 15/16" master cylinder with brake booster and have been a little afraid how long it's gonna be. I'm glad to see that someone else is also having a long booster / cylinder setup so there's a change it can work!  Are you going to use a master cylinder brace like this?

Keep up with the good work!

Thanks!  No brace for me.  My car is RHD and while I purchased the 15/16" master cylinder it would not work on my car because the bleeder screws were on the wrong side.  I ended up finding a 7/8" maser cylinder from a 240z which had the bleeders on the side I needed them.  All in all I am running a B210 brake booster with modified firewall bracket, shortened pedal arm, B210 bracket between the booster and master, and a 7/8" 240z master cylinder.  I am loving the way this car is coming together!!! Should be on the road very SOON.

Here we go with the updates!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  So after two days and probably 20 hours of work my friend Peter finished the headliner and I helped install the windows and trim.  SOOOO happy with how it turned out and Peter vowed to never do another headliner again LOL.  Finished it at 1130pm on 5/9:

My friend Eric drove down to help with the goal of finishing the motor build, getting it in the car, and fired up by the end of the day.  So 5/10 started with measuring for a throttle cable and going to pick n pull to retrieve one.  Then while building the motor we ran into some clearance issues on the valves so had to make a run to Rebello Racing to pick up the correct lash pads.  Between those two things we wasted 3-4 hours of time and realized the likelihood of finishing was not good.   We pressed on anyways with a new goal of getting the motor in the car by the end of the day…………..at 11:59 PM on 5/10/18 we secured the first bolt…………we spent the next 30-45 minutes securing it in place and mocking up the header and getting the car on the ground.  And I will have to admit AT LEAST 15 minutes I was staring with my JAW ON THE FLOOR.  This car in front of me was the EXACT VISION that was in my head when I started this build.  I cannot believe it and CAN’T wait to drive it.  I promise you this car will get used and abused often……….I don’t care how nice it has become the builds are ALWAYS about enjoying miles on the road for me……..in fact I already have my first dent out of the way….I even have a couple scratches already LOL.  This car WILL be a driver, like all of my cars.

HUGE thanks to Eric, Peter, and Ralph for helping get me to this point and putting in hours and hours on the car or lending equipment and donating parts.  The most important person to thank through this is my wife for being patient and understanding and allowing me to spend tons of hours away from family time to get this thing on the road.  I couldn’t have done it without her support, even though sometimes it was lacking LOL.

I still have a TON to get done in the next 7 days to be roadworthy but I am even more motivated now.

Enough with the chatter and ON TO THE PICS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! HOLY HEADER!!!!!!!!!!!!  :w00t:  :w00t:     :frantics:  :frantics:  :frantics:  :frantics:  :frantics:  :frantics:  :frantics:  :frantics:

I am curious as to how difficult it was to install the back glass moulding with the glass installed.  It looks like on the front windshield you installed the weatherstrip to the glass then installed the mouldings.....maybe.  I have a couple 510 glasses that will need to be installed sometime in the future.  I have installed glass on my 1200 and installed mouldings, put the weatherstrip around the glass, then installed the whole thing.

Good catch...................extremely difficult.............my fingers can show you LOL.  I was advised to install the trim first but on the back window the seal kept slipping off the corners and it was difficult to just keep it on the window by itself prior to install.  After doing it this way i realized I should've set the window on the car and then installed the trim prior to pulling it through.  My fingers are in pain just as I am typing this. :bye:   Obviously I didn't care how hard it would be when it came to the front window so I made sure to install it first.

Oh snap here we go.......I am in the home stretch and still have some cool stuff to reveal

So a few things have happened since the car got put back on the ground.  I finally received a package I have been working on with Craig Ford for a few months.  I was buying stuff while he was gathering parts from cars.  All of the items were finally ready and the package shipped and was received on Friday!!  Unfortunately I only had a few hours to work on the car on saturday so I started with running the sequential body harness from the taillights to the dash loom.  Then I worked on securing the taillights in their metal buckets.  After that I turned my attention to the door outer trim.  I replaced the outer and inner window trim and I also got the left rear quarter window installed with new latch.  The last thing I was able to get to was the rear seat install.  The lower brackets were easy as the fender wells were pre-stamped with mounting points from the factory! It is pretty crazy to me that those were there on a USDM sedan but super cool!  I also figured out how I am going to install the uppers.  The USDM 2 door sedan has a completely different C-pillar (obviously) to the coupe and the inner wall structure is different and in a different location.  Because of this the factory coupe uppers would only be able to mount 2 screws.  Thankfully Craig sent 3 sets of brackets and since the coupe has some lower mounting points I will be able to flip them and use them for the upper.  More to come on this.....

Car is also back in the air for some suspension work, exhaust, transmission, clutch, driveshaft, battery cable, etc. etc.

Anyways on to the pics!!!! Got a badge I have been searching years for  :frantics:  :frantics:  :frantics:  :frantics: along with a factory fog light switch and some other goodies:

Ok more updates!!!!!!!!!!  Huge step as we got most everything hooked up and motor started!!!! It was a bittersweet moment as we had some issues that we need to address but it was WONDERFUL to hear it fire for the first time (again) in "shakotn".  It looked beautiful and sounded wicked but we were unable to tune it.  Basically before the motor even fired I noticed water seeping out the side of the head gasket.  Prior to installing we made sure the water passage holes and all of the holes lined up properly and that the head was torqued to the correct specs.  In all of the years of Eric building L-series he has never seen this issue so we are researching what may have caused it but needless to say the motor will need to be torn back down to the head.

Eric, Peter, and myself have put in countless hours trying to prepare the car to drive to the Datslocos show this Saturday but that will not be happening anymore  :(  at least no more stress for that show and I will be taking the FairladyZ instead.  The other things that I finished yesterday was getting the wipers installed and removed the grill (you're welcome datsunfreak  :D ).  In addition rear halfshafts were installed (with new U-joints), transmission, radiator, etc. etc.

By the way the header FITS PERFECTLY!!!!!!!!!!!! No adjustments needed!  I can't believe how nice it fits and it was a HUGE relief.  They definitely used up every INCH of available space  :frantics:

sounds like the belt is loose. I assume the oil pump was primed.

On my yellow car I had it would only start if I choked it NO GAS. 44mm

My 40s I just pumped and starts right up no choke

where is that carb.maifold port tube going from Number 4 runner? I see it now the brake master booster

As for cheap plug wires I like the blue NGK wire set NE64

TSI automotive sell those Nice Denso gearreduction starters like 225 sent(same ones TroyErish sells on the 510outlet for 289$ partnumber 202

Car looks Beuatifult with the wheels/ stance!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

belt was loose....was tightened after that video.  In other videos the whine is gone.

Oil pump was primed.

Yes to the brake booster, now clamped down

Spark plug wires I am going to replace with NGK or at least better ones

The starter is a gear reduction just doesn't look that great lol - all my money is gone now

Thanks man!  Looking forward to finishing it in the coming weeks (except interior, will still need carpet and seats recovered but I am in no rush on those as it doesn't affect drive-ability)
