260z for my kid

My daughter wanted a Z,  at first my wife said no but I talked her into it.  2 seats is good, can't pile a bunch of friends in, seems good to me anyway.  Since a mini van could beat the Z in a race the speed doesn't worry me either.  Since she hasn't gotten her license yet we got few months to sort it out.  It's okay if we aren't done on time.  It will be good to do some learning on her moms car.  We don't care if that one gets crashed :)

The best club I ever joined was the Seattle Electric car club.  We've gotten a few awesome Datsun through those guys now, including cars 4 door "granny".  Gary one of the guy in the club emailed me a few weeks ago asking if I wanted a Z.  I got some pictures and told him if it was cheap I would totally be down.  So he talked to the owner and he was cool selling it for 500 bucks.  All I can say is it turned out the be an awesome deal!   The motor is seized.  Haven't 100% decided what to do about that yet.

Anyways here are the pictures.  My favorite part :)

I thought it was two tone....

Same here... can't believe how good it looks.... for 500 it's a steal even with the questionable motor.....

Lucky daughter..... I may have to do the same when my kid gets of that age or I'll never see my 521.....

And what's that truck in the backround.. looks pretty cool too....

Yeah that's my 57 VW single cab (dream truck when I was a kid, well technically a double cab but those are impossible to get now) pile of rust but one day I'm going to rebuild it.  The blue truck is my 73 Datsun Sunny UTE.  I drive the hell out of it.  been a great rig.

RB20 engines were cheap 1400 now abit of money about 2200 because everybody wants trans for rb26.

Thinking a RB25 NEO non turbo.  Cheap and more then enough power.

Does Frank know you didn't use his coin op washer?

haha I thought about stopping buy his work!

I bet it would fire right up after some prep with cleaning out fuel tank, lines, and injectors and rail, change oil and boom!!!

Head gasket was blown when parked, motor is froze up :(

The 260 used carbs. The less said about them the better

Judging from the condition it was well preserved in a garage (or barn) but out of the weather. It looks too good to have been recently stored so maybe for over 20 years??? If the head gasket blew and water was in the cylinder(s) rust may have really fucked it up.. but you never know. It may only be lightly stuck from sitting. Damn good price!

She's stuck.  I was going to try and do the old starter trick to me the Z around the yard, but I thought before doing all the work of getting a battery in it I should see it the motor will turn.  Not by putting it in gear and pushing it back and forth.

I have a couple L28 longblocks that are NOT seized up, but need to be gone through I could let go cheap.

Thanks for the offer but I like to ditch the old L series engines.  I work with Carter and Sam.  They remind me on a daily basis why I don't like carbs.

Go ahead, just try to talk Jeff in to reviving a carbureted motor.

Bill doesn't stock non turbo RB's!!!

You do realize that the L28  was not a carbbed engine, right?

That's true.  Hard to not go with a RB25 NEO.  They are around 1500 bucks shipped, and half the age of the L28.  I'm just not an L motor guy.  Sucks because I want to vintage race... Which means... L series.... Steering box....   damn.
