wayno
We in the USA cannot tell you much about them as we didn't get them, I suspect they are as reliable as any other 720, maybe someone from Australia will chime in. 1 Quote Link to comment
datzenmike
Where are you? Columbia???? We got larger displacement engines that other places and diesels. Mileage depends on what engine you are getting. 1 Quote Link to comment

wayno
Australia had a lot of diesel 720s, diesel 4X4s and even diesel double cabs. Diesels get the best mileage even with a heavy foot, worst I ever got was 21mpg towing another diesel 720 behind my diesel 720, but I will say this now, I will never daily drive another vehicle with a SD series diesel engine without a turbocharger, they are gutless on the freeway, but I suppose it depends on how fast one wants to go. 1 Quote Link to comment
sumith
Hi Guys I am from Sri lanka, here we have 720 with SD series engines, i have seen Mostly SD23 on them thanks regards sumith 1 Quote Link to comment
datzenmike
We got the SD22 and later the SD25 diesels along with an early L20B then a Z22 followed by a Z24. I would guess your 720 would be just as good as ours although our transmissions ands differentials may have been stronger to reflect the larger engines used. Do you know what gas engines you had??? Otherwise, body, (other than dual cab) suspension and steering would likely have been the same. Do you know where they were made assembled? 1 Quote Link to comment
wayno
With a SD series diesel engine if you can stay under 60mph/96kph you will likely get 35mpg/14.88kpl or better, I myself got 30.2mpg/12.83kpl going 75mph/120.7kph, but my SD25 is turbocharged, I likely would do way better if I could keep it under 60mph/96kph, maybe closer to 40mpg/17kpl. This is all based on level ground driving, normally around town I get 25mpg/10.6kpl which is great as my gas engines around town get poor mileage. The Nissan diesel engines we get here with the inline injection pumps get 300,000miles/482803kilometers all the time, I heard that the engines in other countries received the VE injection pump and they wear out much faster, but the trucks themselves generally last a long time as long as salt is not used on the roads. As for maintenance I don't do a lot to my trucks except change the oil/filter and fix normal wear items, I used a strainer as a pre-filter between the tank and the lift pump/fuel pump, do not use a gas pre-filter as they will not let the diesel fuel pass thru the paper membrane material fast enough. 1 Quote Link to comment
