New and looking for some 620 help!

Hi I just bought a 1979 Datsun 620 from Oregon and traveled around all the way back to New Jersey, 11 days over 4000miles and only 2 break downs, finally have it home and want to start putting in some work but need some help/advice on what to do.

First the exhaust is all.. just bad, I want to go to about 2in but don't know which setups would sound good on this truck and would like some opinions. It has the l20b with a Weber carb and a 4 speed in it

Second is if I run 15x8 wheels what would be the best tire size for them not to rub

Third is the previous owner put Nissan Pathfinder seats in it and it made it a very tight ride home, is there any other seats that will match up or is there somewhere I can find the original seats for this truck?

You can get an muffler shop to custom bend up a nice 2" exhaust system. But get a reputable shop that does this for a living. It's really an art to get the bends right and the pipe up close and neat to the body.

I wouldn't presume to suggest what sounds right to you. Every member here will have an opinion.

I find that the older you are the quieter you enjoy it. Noise gets pretty tiring if you are in the truck a lot or enjoy long trips. Noise tires you out. Myself I would run the largest muffler that will fit the truck and a 2" inlet pipe. The outlet a 45 degree bend down. I find this tends to bounce some of the sound back at the body where a tail pipe sends it on it's way behind the vehicle.  For a throatier rumble sound a 'turbo' style muffler. They are not exactly straight through and are baffled and  contain sound absorbing materials. If too loud you can always add a tail pipe. If too much resonance you can add a 'glass pack' in line to mellow it out. Last are the straight through 'glass packs' by themselves, and the 'fart cannons' all the kids have on their hondas, but they tend to snap and pop pretty bad.

Perhaps a little over kill for an NA 2 liter. Never hurts to have good exhaust speed with a smaller pipe but this will limit high speed and become restrictive. What someone needs to do is invent an exhaust pipe the can swell from 1 3/4" to 2 1/4" as needed.  Closest is an electric operated cut out.
