Datsun CURSES

Recommended Posts

In 1992 when I started my first project, the po (my dad) told me the affermarket gemp gauge didn't work, and I should replace it asap.

A couple years later, it overheated with no working temp gauge, because teenager.

The motor I rebuilt and swapped in got an aftermarket gauge that didn't last long, before I traded it for a 510 with a blown head gasket (overheated).

My 521 has gone through 5 or 6 temp gauges, in about 20k miles and overheated a few times because of it (my last motor)

I've tried mostly auto gage, and sunpro, and this one I'm using in my truck now is about useless, moves a little, not accurate, and it was just a couple months old when I had quit driving it.

I'm not here in Datsun stories to fix this problem.

I'm here to spread rumors and fear with multiple accounts of CURSED datsuns and parts from MANY datsun owners, please add your own CURSED stories.

Maybe we can reverse the Jay Leno effect.

I use the stock temp gauge, and the only time my truck has overheated is when I put an L16 thermostat housing on it without a hole drilled in the thermostat as the L16 housing doesn't have a bypass hose.

The only vehicle I own that is not using the stock temp gauge is my NL320 that has been changed to negative ground and I am not sure the stock positive ground gauge would work, it's not a daily driver so I am good with the aftermarket gauge.

I don't believe a Datsun can be cursed, but if not kept as a daily driver shit goes wrong from long periods of sitting, especially if it sits outside in the elements/weather.

You know that brass fittings in aluminum bolted to a head with a gasket can cause major ground issues, sometimes a special added ground gets things back to normal again, like a ground going from one of the bolts holding the thermostat housing to the head going to the block itself.

I don't think you read all the way to the end of my post. This is for fun, comparing things that keep breaking, and blaming the devil, not ourselves, or other members. For the record, the ship has sailed for putting anything back to stock for me. No factory gauges or lights or wires between in the vehicle. Not trying to solve any issues, please play along.

Another CURSE I was able to exorcise was continuous urge to smoke cigs. First week on the road was nonstop, then my elbow from my fuel tank kept clogging, and I barely had the lung power to blow it clear. I wouldn't have made it home if I hadn't quit smoking cigs a couple years earlier.

Haven't had the urge to smoke cigs since....

Oooooh eeeeee ooooooooh

...it is alive and trying to control my brain :S

...wrong thread, but it tried to set me up with some Hippie loving too. Dropped off a package, and back in the datsun, angelec voice says, your tire is really flat, I look up, hotass hippie, I say thanks, then my datsun love takes over, no air chuck, just air tank and nozzle, I pull the valve core, blow air in, stuff core back in, I can hear the tire leaking, need to go a mile or so, but want hippie love...

She is still there looking a bit impressed.

I rush it to the shop to make arrangements for a spare, not stopping to get her digits.

The truck did try though, I still don't know why the sidewall split open, I didn't hit anything.

Well, I have an ignition circuit that refuses to get spark and all of the parts work fine when installed in another car......I am pretty sure I heard the car laughing at me yesterday.

Keep telling myself.......just one more wire.

Sounds like it's just being lazy. Buy some sage spice, heat it up on a spoon until it smokes, and blow smoke all over the effected area. Now the energy is cleared. Now put Herby on for it, get it all pumped, and motivated. If that doesn't work, show it pictures of crushed cars, and point ro each of them, saying "didn't start, didn't start..." you should be on the road in no time.

Tried that, but it wasn't sage spice, I didn't blow, I inhaled....still didn't work.  This afternoon I plan to walk circles around the car with a gas can and a Zippo lighter in my hand.

Like the picture idea........

Not sure if it is being lazy or just getting even with me for ravaging it to make the green car run and then letting it sit for a little over a year.

Hehe, whatever you burned probably kept you from lighting the gas, probably the same thing that saved my 521 from my breaker bar a time or two.

I can see holding a grudge after watching you take it's guts out and bringing life to something else with them. I'll have to look up your build thread and put my $.02 in for real.

Kelmos  coupe covers the grey car, Manure covers the green car.  Not much to see on either....never fixed the "cursed" photobucket links.

Maybe to make the grey car feel better I will tow it around the block with the green car.  Once towed a 1200 coupe with a 510 wagon....no rope or chain around so we used a garden hose (young, no money).

Wipers are cursed

Indeed, the rare and mighty "Factory Curse"

Nissan was able to eventually lift this curse, the details remain hidden, god only knows what they had to do, but in the later mid '70's, the new vehicles were born with the ability to remove rain as quick as it falls.

This being a factory curse, serious Japanese Juju, it's beyond any round eyes ability to lift. The only thing you can do is remove the affected part, and replace it with a curse free setup.

...I used a post curse '84 720 setup.

"THIS AREA IS CLEAR!"

...or is it? My turn signal/wiper assy. Is getting evil on the the turn signal side, intermittant lights, and turn signals. Also a power drain.

I'm guessing the curse jumped over when I tried to remove it.

Old saying.  Roses are red violets are blue, horses that loose are turned into glue!
