Dratsun
Hey everyone, just picked up my first Datsun, It's a 1973 610 Wagon 1.8L with the 4 speed manual. Everything is pretty much stock. Someone had installed some awesome house grade shag carpet, which somehow didn't get super moldy and kept the floor pans in decent shape, minus the cut made in the passenger floor. Still unsure as to why someone did it, who knows. The car has been sitting in a field for the past couple years and the history before that is pretty unclear, but seems like someone kept decent care of it, all the trim pieces are there and the only real damage is a large dent in the drivers door and the back quarter glass being shattered. Basically the plan is to clean it out, get the engine running and restore what I can and then doing some minor upgrading. As I live in Alberta it's starting to get nice and cold right now and the vehicle has to stay outside until I can make room in the garage progress will be slower until then. I'll try and post up as much as I can as I make progress, 2 Quote Link to comment
datzenmike
Holy crap that is in good shape for a 45 year old! First year 610... followed right behind the end of the 510 production. Only year with the L18, the non 5MPH mandated bumpers and that grill design. Good score at any price.  Welcome to Ratsun 2 Quote Link to comment

Thinking the major reason it won't start is just the distributor, looks like it is just going straight through the pin on the rotor instead of out the side. The only real hack job was the stereo someone had, wires ran everywhere...poorly. Was it in Alberta? Quote Link to comment

banzai510(hainz)
I said that????????? Be honest I been using the Walmart brand oil filters. I notice the Napa and the Walmart had a G2 marking on the face thread side and wondered if they made at the same place. Youtube says its a Wix filter. Quote Link to comment
