Datsun 620 Bed parts

HI all,

 

Im after the corner caps on the rear of a bed beside the tailgate. Wasn't to sure where to post this, but im located in New Zealand so can only ship haha.

Probably cheaper to hammer them out. It's a common place for denting.

Crazy soft steel.  Hammer them out, unless they are rusted beyond use.  Seems to be an abundance of those parts on EBay via Australia.

I'm looking for one also (left).

Was just tail ended by some dweeb kid in a Camry, who then fled the scene.

Fortunately, got his plate number, so it looks like his insurance is going to pay.

The way it, and the lower corner of the bed is crushed in, it would mean a lot of work unfolding the accordion.

 

Has anyone seen new ones being sold somewhere here in the US ?

You'll spend more on the right set of hammers than it would cost to buy another set. You could make the right hammer or dolly though. Got a belt sander or 4" grinder? You can modify any hammer or flat piece of steel with one of those tools to give you the right shape to get those lower corners pounded out.

 

I bought a waffle head body hammer last year that cost $180. Never thought I would spend that much on a hammer.

I believe I responded to the OP on his facebook post, but I was lucky enough to find an NOS right side corner on ebay. It was about $90 shipped from Greece. They're tough to find. 

 

I have an old bed with a fully rusted floor I'm about to chop up for the rear lower panels. I'll try to save the corners, as I recall them being decent. Does anyone have a picture or diagram of the stock spot welds?

I think the weld spots are pretty random - not welded by robots.  Start sanding off the paint and the dimples will be obvious.

If you can't find the spot welds and don't want to screw up the panel, just cut behind the mounting flange leaving extra material to be cut off later. Better safe than sorry...especially if the rest of the bed is going to the scrappers.

I haven't taken the bed off of the scrap vehicle nor have I looked at the backside of the parts. 

My key objective is to save the lower, rear bed panels and then the corners. 

 

Why is that 620s always take a hit in those corners?!

Trust me, 521's get hit in the bed corners too.

I don't want to like this...but glad that it's not just the 620s that are plagued. :)
