Nissan halts production

So if you heard Nissan halted all domestic market (japanese market) production for two weeks because they had regular un trained people doing the final inspections on cars.

This violated its own internal policies etc.  I wonder how this will impact the company as it opens the door for more scrutiny.

 

For my own experience with Nissan outside of my old Datsun that is. In November 2016 My wife and I bought a new Rogues SL AWD and I have to say it was a hunk of junk which led to us trading it on on my wifes Mercedes in April.  The car had several Quality control and safety issues like the rear seat belts rattled and weren't tightened down all the way, The cowl wasn't properly assembled which caused the blower fan box to fill with water and freeze a week after we got the car which ultimately led to the blower fan intermittently making noise before going bad two months in. One of the fenders wasn't tightened down, and one of the factory roof rails just came off.  You know problems reminiscent of Mitsubishi (a company that Nissan bought 34% in to save.)   All of this led me to selling the Nissan after only having it for 6 months and vowing never again.  (Of course I would never sell the 510 nor do I include any other Datsun in that statement.)  When searching online I found tons of other similar stories from various cars that they sell so clearly they haven't been doing their job when it comes to QC'ing cars for a long time. 

 

I have to wonder if this embarrassment for Nissan will finally lead to a positive change with the brand or if it isn't the harbinger of worse to come.

This is curious, purchased a 2012 Xterra (used in June 2016) and a 2014 Frontier CC 4x4 (new in March of 2015) both have been outstanding vehicles up to this point. I wonder if the VIN on your Rogue started with a "J" or something else. VIN's that start with a "J" are Japanese built, VIN's that start with a "1" or a "3" are US made and Mexico made respectively.

Was there any mention of US or Mexico shut down?

 

As a side note, I worked at an Infiniti dealership when the JX35 came out and we quickly started calling it the "Junk Extreme

Ironically enough Frech fries were created by the belgians.  Most of which speak french but still lol.

I agree with your sentiment totally although I do kick myself for not buying a mint low mileage R5 turbo back in 2001 for 12k.  I mean junk or not you can't argue with mid engine RWD wide body styling like that.  Oh and the fact that most mint low mileage ones now sell for 100k. Then again I also thought Google stock was overpriced when they IPO'd..... Such is life guess I still have to work for a living.

Hey on an individual basis even a yugo can be reliable lol.  That said the Xterra was an almost unchanged design from 1999.  The frontier was and I believe still is built on the Xterra platform and has been largely a good platform that even the likes of Mercedes has used.  So in short they aren't all bad.... Just the other 90% lol.

 

 

***EDIT -  I should at that the interesting bit of the article was that they halted production of only the vehicles that were being sold in the US market not any japanese produced models being sold in other markets.  So to your point of vins that start with J I guess if you are in the market you should probably make sure your vin doesn't start with a J assuming this isn't a company wide issue that is.

For some Reason Renalt and Fiat are huge companies in Europe. I dont know why. Everywhere else is dominated by Japanese manf(africa ,Asia, S America Austrlia)
