racerx
I've had Haggerty for many years. In a nutshell they require that; It's stored in a secure place. It's used only as a pleasure vehicle. You have another vehicle insured as a daily driver. They actually questioned me on the last one because I listed my 510 as a daily (insured through Progressive) while I was applying for coverage on my '79 Cutlass. They couldn't fathom someone driving a 45 year old Datsun on a daily basis. Also, there is no mileage restriction. I could bounce back and forth from coast to coast as long as it was a fun road trip and not for work. ...they live in another universe, I've been driving my 71 510 on daily basis for like 15 or more years. 2 Quote Link to comment
Ranman72
I have hagerty and love them I have had 2 claims and not windshields over 6 years both paid with no questions no deductible and no bullshit sent them a quote for repairs and pictures and i was paid immediately I have an agreed value and 7500 a year agreed millage they want you do drive your car as a pleasure vehicle not a daily so their rates reflect this HAGERTY HAS BEEN MORE THAN FAIR WITH ME AND I RECOMMEND THEM FOR PLEASURE VEHICLES 4 Quote Link to comment
FrankRizzo
Thanks to this thread, I got a online quote from Hagerty. $14k replacement value, 500k/500k coverage with $1k deductible for $350/year! More than $750/year less than AAA ... AND they include earthquake coverage so when the get clobbered by shit in the rafters in the garage during an "event", Im covered. AAA does not have anything like that. w00t 3 Quote Link to comment

datzenmike
Good answer.... http://www.the510realm.com/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=30208 So, with this information, the only wise action is to NEVER use insurance for something you can pay for out of pocket. Even though they cleverly sell you glass coverage, never claim it for the reasons above. In fact, remove it if you can to lower your premium. Insurance at its most basic and original form was designed to protect you against a loss you can't afford, such as the total loss of your primary residence. Repeated losses and claims in short period of time, for any reason, your fault or not are judged as an increased risk. Quote Link to comment

FrankRizzo
Follow up: Got my policy from Hagerty yesterday. I was able to get the total cost down to about $230 per year ! ...I did not need the towing service since I have AAA already, bumped the deductible to $500 and covered at an agreed value of $12500. I had to send in 4 good pics and did the application online. An Agent called me to verify a couple of other details and the policy was issued electronically a few days later along with the card. Super clean process. Overall I did not save any money on the policy overall, but AAA verified that they would only pay “average retail” based on things like the Autotrader if it was totaled. The Hagerty cost ends up being almost exactly the same as AAA, but with much higher coverage and Earthquake damage as well. So I feel much better. The one restriction is that I don’t use it as a daily driver. . 2 Quote Link to comment

Draker
At the beginning of this month I switched to Hagerty as well. I didn't have to send pictures because the agreed upon value was within the expected range. I think I did 8k for now and can adjust at any time. I had to show I had a daily driver all drivers in the house. $500 deductable, no towing (AAA), some other stuff.. $170 for the year. I was paying $350 through country financial insurance. Overall experience, good. 3 Quote Link to comment
