the510keeper
Trunk lid is in DTM hibuild primer surfacer Once you glue frame to skin changes exterior sheet metal and adds work, but you get less flexing. even though it is premature (like my ejaculation) Works out in the long run just more masking Bare naked surface rusted hood is next. Been stripped and sitting for years Instead of sanding the rust off decided to metal prep the rust off then sand Here is what it looks like after its bath with metal ech. I used metal prep socked 80 grit used paper to sand out the rust areas by hand And 30 mins DA 80gt sanding done and ready for body work 1 Quote Link to comment

the510keeper
Back on this one, finally Roof Had some rust and the inner structure was bend and hanging down Cleaned the rust off with a purple wheel, been sitting for months after sanding with 80gt DA. Then realized I needed to glue that sub frame. I let that set up for 48 hours now minimal flexing in the skin Once cleaned pulled a few deep spots, however I will be floating the roof completely to make the next step quicker left her alone for a few days and wanted to take care of some rust Used a stud gun and welded pins to help move the patch where needed I chose to spot weld the lower area to keep heat down patched other areas that are questionable 2 Quote Link to comment
the510keeper
Another week goes by and I realize at even 68 degrees in the shop surface rust came back, what a bitch. So I figured I would metal prep, sand then grind the metal before filler Metal prep kills rust but also does not allow bondo filler to stick. So kill rust sand off the coating it leaves and grind for filler. I used an 8inch sheetrock knife and made cake out of it Rock and Roll ready for primer 7 Quote Link to comment
the510keeper
Quest for glory Roof primed and pulled all rear suspension Aligning panels before we do more fine filler work The left door was fucked but want to make sure the edges are cool, chipping fresh paint sucks A nice way to get them to line up Hammer, dolly, pulling oh my 4 Quote Link to comment

Icehouse
James got a question for you. So you've never had an issue with the seam sealer pealing off over time. We had issues in the engine bay where the inner fenders meet the firewall so we (me and frank) switched to using bondo (after expoxy of coarse) and haven't had any issues. We used the fancy seam sealer from Westco to, the kind you have to take a loan out to afford it. 1 Quote Link to comment

Ive been using SEM for years with no problems It's a 2 part, $25 a kit Usually drip it on the ground and when i scrap it up it takes concrete with it. And thats old dusty dirty concrete Quote Link to comment
