mx71
85 720 KC 4x4 Carb has been identified as an older model Weber 32/36, but it's made by/licensed to Motorcraft, which seems to essentially be a Holley 5200 It's got an electric choke. It's like a little round plunger, and it is getting power through the idle cut off circuit (my choke circuit has no power on the 6 pin plug). I tested and the choke itself is getting power, but the symptoms the truck is exhibiting seem to point to it not working. FYI I use non-ethanol fuel. It's hard to start when cold Hard to start when it's been sitting Have to give it gas for about 5 seconds when it starts to keep it running Doesn't start high then settle low when I hit the pedal Once the truck is warmed up, it runs great and starts much easier. The truck does have 173,xxx miles, so I'm sure the rings are worn, however the truck does appear to be decently maintained throughout it's life. Any ideas? This is what I'm working with. There appears to be some parts/options missing on the drivers side of the carb? Quote Link to comment
datzenmike
When cold from sitting over night, take the top off the air filter. Pump the gas once or twice and you should see the choke flap snap closed ready for starting. Quote Link to comment
mx71
So the procedure to start is that I'm supposed to give two pumps of gas by design? Quote Link to comment
mx71
Also, it seems I'm missing the choke spring? Maybe I don't even have a choke? What are those two mounting bolts on the driver side of the carb? Quote Link to comment
