First Datsun 620

Hey all.

Thought id make a little intro post. Im Aaron. Im from that little country at the bottom of the world, New Zealand.

I bought my first Datsun 620 the other month, came with the factory J15 engine and a 4 speed column change gearbox.

Since SR20s are easily purchases and heaps of parts. I have got a engine and gearbox out of a S14 Silvia to go in.

Looking forward to reading up on some upgrades for the truck and sharing my photos :)

Not sure how to post pics yet but ill figure it out.

Thanks

Aaron

Welcome to Ratsun Aaron.

Yes the 620 is probably the most beautiful example of the 70s styling with it's flowing lines. We got the L16 for up to '74, the L18 for '74 and the L20B from '75 on in the US and Canada. We did get the J13 in the previous model 520/521.

I think there are a couple of SR swaps discussed in the recent posts. Maybe you'll be telling us how it's done.

As far as im aware, The J15 is just a stroked J13. I haven't seen many 620s here, and most that came here were only cab and chassis. So unfortunately most 620s have flat decks, like mine did. I managed to source what I was told as a 620 Bed but it actually is a 720 bed. Bit of a pain that the lights are different but no biggie. Still weighing up if I use the 720 lights or modify the back to fit my 620 lights.
