d.p
Right as rain so far but I haven't driven it all that much. Trust if shit goes wrong with this truck you guys will know about it. Quote Link to comment
wayno
I hate points distributors, they have caused me so many headaches that I will do just about anything to convert to electronic ignition(matchbox is preferred). Did you know a lot of early MG distributors will bolt into the E, J, and L blocks, and they have a shitload of aftermarket support. Quote Link to comment

banzai510(hainz)
Pertronix the tape can wear and when you pull the magnet ring off the magnets stay on the dist shaft!!!!!!!!!!! I seen this once on another and on mine. So I just superglue the tape line and leave the magent ring on and never take it off unless I have to. I have a spare Magnet ring also(which you can get from Pertonix) I just swap Pertronix to another single point dizzy when my bushings wear out as alot of people threw the single points dizzys aside. and I collecteed them up.(mostly the L20 ones) Quote Link to comment

sebpv
So in short: new plugs, gapping, new coil, pertronix dizzy and all is well? Quote Link to comment
d.p
Pretty much...new plug wires too. Quote Link to comment
datzenmike
One day swap the old coil back in..... Quote Link to comment
racerx
I thought he said he homed it out and was good Quote Link to comment
Crashtd420
I could almost guarantee he didnt.... And since the coil and dizzy were 2 of the oldest parts in the truck, still from the original owner i doubt he will bother Quote Link to comment
datzenmike
I thought he said he homed it out and was good Yes, fixed. Swapping the coil in would test the theory that the coil overheats and acts up. (hey, just call me curious) Quote Link to comment
racerx
In curious, too. Quote Link to comment

(hey, just call me curious)I know what you mean... even though the petronix was a good idea .... was the problem the coil or the points... And DP If you do swap to see don't leave the good coil at home just incase.... Quote Link to comment
d.p
I'll swap the coil sometime soon and see what happens. Just want to enjoy the truck for now. 1 Quote Link to comment
racerx
You don't have to swap it. Ohm it out. Find the value of your old coil and test it. Quote Link to comment
datzenmike
Ohming it out will likely show everything is fine. When it gets hot from use is when if may crap out. It's all hypothetical at the moment..... Quote Link to comment
