d.p
Paint code is gone from the engine bay and I have no idea what it is. So much conflicting information on the web. Blue 567 or Island Turquoise 568? Neither of which were used in 1972 according to this site. http://levigideon.github.io/datsun-color-codes/ This BAT article says 567 and has to be same color as mine. https://bringatrailer.com/2015/10/30/9k-miles-mostly-original-impressive-1971-datsun-521-pick-up/ Quote Link to comment
paradime
Google http://www.automotivetouchup.com/touch-up-paint/datsun/1971/all-models/ Hard to tell from a computer screen but looks like 471, 557 Nissan Blue Quote Link to comment

d.p
Saw all of those links. First one It looks like 557 (no reference to that code anywhere else..567 close), second it looks like 562. Quote Link to comment
Draker
it's 562. 567 is much darker. Quote Link to comment
d.p
it's 562. 567 is much darker. Think so? I think 562 is too light. http://levigideon.github.io/datsun-color-codes/ From that site it looks like 568. Quote Link to comment
610StaWag
I couldn’t make out the numbers on my ’73. I was sent this lead regarding my '73. Maybe you can get it to work/find a 1971 section. It seems Australia has a lot of info on old Datsuns. http://www.uniquecarsandparts.com.au/colour_swatch_datsun_1973.php Quote Link to comment
d.p
Yeah saw that one too. Still think 567 or 568. Quote Link to comment
Crashtd420
I vote 567, This is yours and that bat ad... Seems like yours is original paint too.... I bet its just a bit sun faded over the years.... Some of the other colors you thought seem too light... Plus the bat one seems freshly polished and shinning.... Quote Link to comment
datzenmike
Pull up the carpet for a better color determination. Use sunlight when comparing color. Our eyes evolved to use 5,500-6,500 kelvin light. Indoor lights and computer screens are no good for paint matching. 1 Quote Link to comment
Draker
Yeah, pretty tough to tell the color code from the internet. 1 Quote Link to comment
paradime
most any paint shop should have a sample card on file. The place I got my paint had a ton of stuff for Datsuns . Quote Link to comment
dat521gatherer
Try looking at your tag with flashlight from many different angles. Sometimes you can catch a glimpse of a faded number. Also inverting the colors on a camera can bring it out. I took over 100 pics on my truck trying to read the tag. I got it though. Knowing what the number might be helps a lot. 1 Quote Link to comment
d.p
tried that no luck. Hunt continues but the more and more I look I think its got to be 567. Quote Link to comment
Duncan
Here's a PPG color chart from 1970. http://www.autocolorlibrary.com/aclchip.aspx?image=1970-Datsun-pg01.jpg Check the scanned back page for more info, as well. You can also backup the link to autocolorlibrary.com and enter the exact year. I picked 1970 randomly. Quote Link to comment
