Do you need new door locks? does the price of a new set makes the hairs on your neck stand?
Fear not! we have the D-16 by Standard products, For less then $20 you too can have a brand new set of working locks! I believe the set is $16 at auto zone, includes 2 locks and 2 keys) 
But not is all well and minor fab work is required.
The problem is that the original arm cannot be transferred into the new locks, so....
The first step is to swap the plates on the new locks right to left, that will make them easier to bend 90 degrees, then I took 2 pieces of metal, I cut and bent them to duplicate the original arm, the new arm is to be screwed, welded (I chose rivets as that is what I had on hand), to the plate. finished it all in less then 25 minutes. easy as pie.

What is stopping the original arm from being put on the new lock?  Do you have a pic of the arms off the locks?

Like I said...the size and shape of the hole that goes on the spindle is off, the original spindle is much bigger.

the new arm is just a flat piece of metal about 3/8 wide bent and trimmed to shape, I cut them out of a Simpson stud bracket (about $0.48 at home depot.)

PS.....

When grinding on the end that fits the lock, don't cut it too small, just remove enugh material to allow the end to fit in the lock, I did remove too much and had to fatten it back up to allow for proper range to open and close.

I'm wondering if the center hole could be opened up with a round file more easily than modifying/making the rest of the bracket.

I suppose...that if you were to weld the holes on the original arms shut and then recut the correct pattern duplicating the late model arms..and its not a simple pattern to say the least, its possible however not worth the effort IMO. Specially when a very simple solution is available..

ah....I got it backwards....even though I read it, I was thinking the hole in the old arm was smaller..........never mind! lol :)

Nice write up and welcome to Ratsun.  Is there any mod to the hloe in the door to fit the new locks?

No mods to the lock or the body, all fits as the original using the original locking clip.

Thanks for the welcome....I may be a nube....only owned and fixed Datsuns....since 1988, back then everything was easy...today I have to get creative, for example:

I also need an ignition lock and then I figured..why do I need an ignition lock when I can get a rfid based push button system delivered to my house for like $20
