mx71
I have a 1985 Nissan 720 King Cab Deluxe 4wd, but new parking brake cables seem to be nonexistent, and none of the local junkyards have that truck. Any ideas? Rockauto/ebay/amazon/nissan sites etc. don't have those specific cables and they're discontinued. Quote Link to comment
wayno
Take your old cable to a cable place and have them make one for you. 1 Quote Link to comment
mx71
What would be an example of a cable place? 1 Quote Link to comment
wayno
What would be an example of a cable place? I have never had to do it, but I have heard of and seen parts made. I do not recall where they had the parts made, but I know there are places out there that do it just like places that make hoses(power steering/brake/ect.) I searched "parking brake cable manufacturer" and "custom made park brake cables" and came up with a few, there has to be a place that does that kind of stuff near you. 1 Quote Link to comment
mx71
Ok. I ended up just biting the bullet and buying some expensive ones (by expensive, I mean $100~, which is 10% of what I paid for the truck). I found a NOS for $30 on ebay as well as one for $75 1 Quote Link to comment

mx71
A bike shop would make cables for old trucks? Quote Link to comment
franklinspecialists
I have a couple cables on the shelf that the part numbers have fallen off of. Send me a pic of the ends and whatever bracket, and some measurements and I'll compare to what's here. Quote Link to comment
mx71
I ended up buying some, but thanks! 1 Quote Link to comment
captain720
I ended up buying some, but thanks! Well you know owning a Datsun is just like having a car payment. It costs you every month. But you can chose weather to pay or not. 1 Quote Link to comment
mx71
I've convinced myself that I'm done doing things on it. I spent $26 at the pick a part yesterday, and I can't think of anything else I might need to spend money on (except maybe a fuse box cover). The only thing that isn't working now is the tach, and I don't really care about it enough to fix it. Quote Link to comment
