JWray707
Wait, rotor pointed toward number #1 plug on distributor cap or #1 plug on the cylinder head? Maybe a dumb question, but I got to ask... Quote Link to comment
JWray707
I'm guessing on the distributor cap, because right now it is perfectly aligned with #1 on the cap... So now I can time it (once again) with the light? Quote Link to comment
Crashtd420
Yes the cap.... you had me worried for a minute when you said it wasn't pointing to #1.... Quote Link to comment
datzenmike
IDLE speed is set with an automatic in drive. Auto and manual idle speeds are 600. I like 700 for mine. Mechanical advance begins to add at about this idle speed so get it down near this as you can. Quote Link to comment

Will use the stroboscope app to dial in idle speed. Quote Link to comment
JWray707
Yeah, another stupid question...hah! Just learning here and want to know im doing stuff correctly. I will set the ignition timing in park... Unless I want my truck to set my timing, if you know what I mean... Quote Link to comment
datzenmike
Turn the idle down to 600 in Park, set the timing to 12 and then reset the timing back to 600 in drive. Or set the timing to 12 while in drive with the parking brake on and the wheels chocked? Quote Link to comment
