Yeah my boy had the 38 outlaw it on a 4cylinder Suzuki samurai engine was too much and ran like crap. So maybe the best is to go with a new 32/36, actual weber and run it no issues

Looks like OP didn't start a new thread, just asked close to the same question in a thread I started 5 years ago. B) FWIW, have had the 32/36 on my 1200 since shortly after that thread and have had zero issues ( well, other than ones I caused and had to use lawn mower parts to fix....but that is another story).

I run the Outlaw. I've got an agressive cam, bored out a bit, flat top Pistons, etc. still the 38 is too much and takes a bunch of adjustment to make it work. And I honestly don't know if it helps with power. But it does growl like a badass. I wish that was more my thing... I'll change to the 32/36 eventually I expect.

/\, you try to rejet, can call pierce manifold, and see what they say. One of the few places where you can have live person to talk to.

Oh yes. Played with jets. It was critical to do so. The issue is at idle. It always will be with big synchronous designs. The primary/secondary design is just more drivable. My wagon screams with the pedal down. I really need to just swap on at 32/36 to compare high end. Not sure how much id suffer.

Yeah Mike is that dude. Great answer man and I def understand what your saying. I'm gonna do the 32/36 for now. Its new and I do believe now will be more drivable and tuneable. I do plan on building the engine and will eventually like it with dual side drafts, nice manifold, headers, big cam, overbore pistons, etc so I'll wait to ho wild with it then. Right now the carb is shot. Major vacumn leaks from everywhere and just all in all runs like crap. The weber 32/36 is from pierce manifolds for $205. Unbelievable price I know but yeah. Look : https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B00TZ9E4B8/ref=mp_s_a_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1501162943&sr=8-1&pi=AC_SX236_SY340_QL65&keywords=datsun+620+carb&dpPl=1&dpID=41LyPRrbyZL&ref=plSrch

Look at the Title of the add No where does it say Weber and just under the title of the ad it says "by PMI".

I do not believe Pierce Manifolds is selling a knock off Weber.

Pretty sure that's not from pierce... I think that's an Asian made equivalent to the weber.... pmi is the brand...

Asian made means China!  LOL

I would not throw away $200 on that carb.  Go spend the $200 on a hooker at least you will enjoy that fucking!  LOL

Yeah, you guys def helped me decide. Rolling with a new weber 32/36. I dont have time to be buying different jets and trying to adjust the 38 outlaw to be drivable. I thought it would be good for future expansion of mods but it seems like its too much. Gonna roll with a 32/36 until I can afford to go wild and do side drafts and manifold, etc

Yeah no PMI or empire, dont want to buy some shit just to have it. Found a weber for good price. Building this Datsun is fun as hell. Can't wait to do a cam. I put on a Honda civic so muffler yesterday mated to the factory piping. It sounds so quiet, clean and awesome. The 32/36 gonna make it sound even better. The civic muffler fits perfect guys. Nice quick mid for cheap. The flow master that was on there wasn't even welded anymore to the piping. Was just hanging. So like I said civic so muffler mated to factory exhaust piping is tits !! Love it. So- titans on now, civic exhaust, I get the 32/36 I'll be set for a while

Never buy things like this from Amazon.

Pierce doesn't hold and ship when sold. An Amazon fulfillment center does.

When a SKU is created that item is held in a bin. Every item containing that SKU gets held in the same place, regardless of seller.

Now...say China has a knock-off Weber that matches that SKU. They send it to Amazon. Amazon places it in the SKU location. When that item is sold one is grabbed and shipped, regardless of who sent said item to the fulfillment center.

My wife has a side business pertaining to a darker nature of products. Chinese have been making fake products for years and sneaking them through, at full price of authentic product, in the very manner for years.

Buy direct!

Yeah manual choke.im in south carolina si not much need for a choke anyways. And yeah doing this will give me time to get more familiar with this truck and engine. I'm sure other parts are gonna need replacing. Gonna get the weber from a dedicated seller like Pierce manifolds online. I really don't want to end up with junk, I like to buy the right quality part and roll with it

Look at this Google search.  I have dealt with PMI manufactured junk parts for Volkswagens.  These have been sold for years as OEM parts.

https://www.google.com/search?q=PMI+chinese+auto+parts&ie=utf-8&oe=utf-8

Be careful how you ask questions.  The question if I was you to ask Pierce Manifolds is do they sell through Amazon?  Is this a Pierce Manfolds made in Spain Weber Carb?

I prefer automatic chokes.

And Crashtd420 is correct I am an opinionated, grumpy, old bastard ! ! !  LOL

An auto choke makes better decisions about it's job than a human. Unless that decision was to get an auto choke in the first place.
