in process of doing engine swap in my 720 .got engine out of 1994 hardbody .i have completely rebuilt the engine.who make a decent manifold from this engine.i know Dorman makes one,but everyone the local parts house has ordered for me is crap.its made with what seems to be no quality control at all.i want to know if i can use a pacesetter part number 70-1193 in my 720.every stock one i have found has cracks around oxygen sensor thats why i want to go with a header.company called ATP offers one ,but everyone who sells them are always out of stock with no back order date.need this resolved ready to put my 720 back on the road! i have a thorley header but it has square ports made for the z24.so can't use that. by the way that 70-1193 is made for thw hardbody.don't know about fit especially the chassis

Your 720 does not have the same engine as the '94 Hardbody, so cracks around the O2 sensor is meaningless. Surely this '94 has an exhaust manifold... use it. Free, fits, never wears out, quiet, makes same power. Did I mention it fits? Punctuate your run on sentence.

thanks, just wanted to know of anyone here had done that already.I may have a lead on a good used stock one.local guy scrapped a 1992 model.Going to look at it today.I am not a really big fan of header.Just would rather keep it close to stock. If I have to I will get the aftermarket manifold and take the grinder to it and clean up the rough spots.I like the stock manifold because of less problems with leaking header gaskets.

Me too. Headers are prone to leaks. There are ways to ensure that headers last a long time. Things like thick flanges, a good metal gasket, fasteners that are in perfect shape, good collector flange, good heat coating or stainless tubing. Those all add up to a leak free system.

Try a ceramic coated one or have a cheap one done. This will probably double the life to over 5 years. I wouldn't waste my time or money on a header, (done that before) the stock exhaust is good enough. Spend the money saved on a 1/4" larger diameter pipe, get rid of cat and put a larger muffler on. A header is 99.99% of the time just along for the ride and always becomes a pain in the ass. Always.

If you have a 2" exhaust and you increase the diameter by only 1/4" you increase the cross sectional area by 26% This would indicate that if you have a 2.4 liter displacement engine your pipe would work on a 3 liter engine. Why people go to 3" or w/e is beyond me.
