Speedymaru
Okay. And yes, definitely gonna do the brakes. The guy that's selling me the truck said he has the shoes for it already. Do I need to replace the drum or can I use the original? Thank yoh Quote Link to comment
datzenmike
Only if worn down too far. The min. diameter is stamped on the drum. For now it's unlikely it's that worn. Quote Link to comment
flatcat19
Plan on replacing all hardware and hydraulics. Just easier to have that piece of mind. You can have drums resurfaced at a shop or parts store. Know a friend at a shop? Slip him a $20 to have this done. I redid every piece of the brake system for my 521, F&R, for less than $250. Brand new everything and I machined the drums myself. Quote Link to comment
Stoffregen Motorsports
Nothing feels nicer than an all new brake system. When a 40 year old truck stops on a dime, that's cool. I would at least check the drums to make sure they aren't out of round. Using warped drums will negate all the time and money spent on the rest of the brake system. Quote Link to comment
racerx
While doing the brakes, check the hoses, if it's cracked or crusty, change them. Really inspect the piston for leaks but clean it really good, go to the dollar store and buy some brushes or toothbrushes, get some brake cleaner. Quote Link to comment
Speedymaru
Well the idiot I was planning on getting the truck from flaked on me. There's another one on Craigslist that looks nice and has the l20b as well. I think I'm going to pursue that. Thanks all for the info Quote Link to comment
