620 gauge cluster bulbs - super hot!

Recommended Posts

Hey guys I have a worrying issue I am having. I have LEDs in my gauge cluster for all the bulbs in there. Just wondering why the bulbs are super hot. So hot, that I can't even hold onto the bulb itself. Anyone else have this kinda issue? I have a 90amp alternator on my truck if it matters. The LED bulbs get so hot that they begin to fail. And these aren't cheap bulbs either. Any Ideas?

Are they rated for up to 14.5 volts??? This is what they are going to 'see' from a properly working charging system.

Get a volt meter and see what your voltage is when the engine is revved up. Maybe over charging?
