L16 charging problem

Recommended Posts

Crash - im going to work on the truck tomorrow morning ill see wich ones are doing what. If I remember right its the blue white wire closest to the front of the truck that is fried. I dont think its repairable because theres nothing to solder too. So ill probably end up getting a generic one.

mike- that makes total sense.

Do you know what gauge the fusible link is supposed to be ?

I suppose so. The fusible link can sustain a dead short for a few seconds without blowing if it's removed. A regular fuse will pop right away.I would get several replacements so you don't get stranded. You can buy fusible link wire.

Well larger wire is better so the fuse or fusible ling is the weakest link and blows first. You want 20 amp rating. Usually they are color coded and I don't know what that is for 20amp. For a regular blade fuse it's clear.

I wanted to chime In about going with a internal regulated alternator. I saw where to connect yellow wire with white wire then white with red stripe to white with yellow stripe . I don't have a white with yellow stripe wire. But I've got a white with blue stripe or a white with black stripe.1973 620
