What's the size of that large nut that secures the brake flex hoses to the body of the Datsun 520/521?

the  only large nut on a flex hose is on the clutch hose, 5/8x18

This is mounted to the frame.  That is why I did not understand your question.

I will guess it is a SAE fine thread as all the frame and bod bolts/nuts are SAE fine thread on the 520/521.  I do not have one to check at this time.
