Stupid front crossmember question!

SO my carbs hit the hood ( kade with rx1 carbs) even with the silly honda hood spacer lift (i fucking hate)

 

I'm curious if anyone has used 1/4" spacers to lift the body up a little higher. and if i do what would the conceivable negatives be.

Pics of your engine?

I think it would be ultimately easier to just trim the I take to get the carbs to sit lower.

Got coilovers so no big on lower. And intake is trimmed back to far as it is.

 

I need to either fab an intake or get a bogg brothers one.

Raising the body will raise the engine. Lower the engine by re drilling the engine mount bolt holes! But only good for 1/2" or so, or engine gets too close to the ground.  Modify the intake to lower the cabs.

It shouldn't raise the engine if I put a .25" spacer between the x member and chassis.

The more you move the crossover the more geometry of everything else changes.

 

 

Can it be done to meet your needs? Sure.

Could this easily turn into a headache? You bet.

Like stated about it will move the relation ship between the inner tie rods and the LCA inner pivot making your car handle worse by increasing bump steer.

Pound a dent into the hood.

That's why the PO did on mine to clear the valve cover on the LZ24.

Ahh now I see the problem. I thought it was a custom manifold. Shorten the old intake manifold runners an inch or so and add trumpets. Probably a truck intake cut down would be a better choice. They are not curved like the sx intake.
