difrangia
Nice truk !! Thanks fro posting this. I'm gonna add a LED third brake light on our 620. The big Tonka trucks running around here in 'Flyover Country' and the mixing together of 'sorta' driving and electronic communication (txting) scares the HELL outta me. I wanna be seen; been run over more than once and got a foot missing and a back broken in couple places as a momento of being run over in smaller than normal vehicles. Gonna check our state laws on the flashing aspect and look into this. I added a third light on our 320 last year and like it. Might upgrade that one to the flasher. 1 Quote Link to comment
Crashtd420
I love the 3rd brake lights.... I thought about it with my 521 because the back lights are so low and people don't pay attention... would be nice to have a brake light up high.... I was curious how those are mounted? Do you have closer pics of just the 3rd light? 1 Quote Link to comment
difrangia
Here's a close-up of my mount. This is not neccessarilay the final solution. Just a sheet-metal bracket that the threaded stud on the back of the LED mounts in on one leg and the other leg is stuck on the little flat panel above the window with the double-backed foam tape that trim strips and insignias are put on autos. Any paint & body shop can can give you the correct name for it. I can find out from my brother what it is and post a photo. Also an auto parts store that supplies paint & body shops would have it. The bracket is either stainless or brass sheet. I wanted to keep it simple and not drill holes in the truk. I may change it out with a machined aluminum mount base later. I do intend to add one to the 620. As you or someone said, those lights down under the tailgate are easy to miss by someone sittin up in one of those Super Dutys, Ram Tuffers, or potato masher GM pickups runnin around. KELMO
Dig the tailgate letters. The flashing brake light could very well be DOT approved, my 2014 Frontier does the same thing as well as most of the late model Nissans. Quote Link to comment
Crashtd420
Thanks for the extra info and pics... gives me ideas for what I am thinking... I was mostly curious about fitting it to the contour of the body, a machined aluminum housing would be sweet... Maybe even a fiberglass pod.... Quote Link to comment
abbylind
I installed it below the rear rain gutter. It has an adhesive sticker on the LED strip. Drilled a small hole and fished the wire under the headliner The flashing LED is DOT approved. They have a California DOT approved version too... I have the same brake light on my motorcycle Website is http://www.hyperlites.com/stdbo.html Quote Link to comment

datzenmike
Brakes and rear side marker lights red, turn signal red or amber, back up and license lamps white. These are a great idea. Just like driving with your head lamps on. People are very used to seeing headlamps on the newer cars to know a car is coming in the daytime. Some idiots think that if they don't see headlamps.... it's ok to pull out. You can't be too safe. And some geniuses actually darken their brake light lenses. Fucking dip shit Darwin award wannabees.
